In need of motivation

I'm currently trying to motivate myself to lose weight. I go to the gym or at least do some exercise regularly and most day i barely get my recommended calories, however, i have got myself in a bad habit of going days on little food and then binging and i am struggling to find the motivation and the knowledge on how to lose healthily and steadily. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

The way to lose weight in a sustainable way is to eat regularly but the right foods. When you starve yourself your body goes into starvation mode and holds on to any calories lowering your metabolism as a result. As soon as you start binge eating or eating normally again you will put on even more weight. This is an eating disorder and you need to break it. If you can't do it without help see your doctor.

There is lots of info on here how to lose weight safely and steadily and stay healthy so look at the pinned posts. I am sure there will be lots of others coming in tomorrow to speak to you. There is only the odd late bird up like me at the moment :)

Welcome to the forum Katie-Ann when I first joined this I was not eating a full amount of calories that my bmi calculator stated for me and I wasn't losing any weight. I was advised that I should be taking at least the minimum amount because otherwise my body starts to believe that I am trying to starve it and turns the food I have eaten into body fat which weighs more than what the calories would have. I tried this and ate more and I have now started losing weight and have lost nearly two stone.
