Any ideas please

Hi Im Carole 52.

Iv struggled with my weight for years and 5 years ago was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, which is well controlled with medication. I need to loose 3 stone in weight. I joined slimming world and for 12 weeks followed it to the letter and only lost 8lb it seemed that no matter what i did i didnt loose. I do not exercise other than the norm of working, housework etc find the thought of gym daunting plus i have a bad back and 2 hip replacements from arthritis. I am now trying to do calories as 1200 per day to see if that helps. I dont eat sugar or sweet things anyway due to diabetes and cant understand why i cant shift the weight. Any suggestions welcome

Hi and welcome

Check the nhs bmi calculator, 1200 may not be enough calories for you. It could be your not eating enough and your body is going into starvation mode.

thanks have done that and it says i need 1497 minimum, its so confusing as even my GP and nurse said 1200 will loose me weight. x

Hi Carole200

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance as 1200 per day is too low.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Have you tried using a smaller plate at meal times? Science tells us that the same messages get to the brain to feel full but less calories consumed. Did slimming world too. I like the recipes but wasn't always honest with syns! Best wishes x

Have a look at The Blood Sugar Diet by Michael Moseley. Cutting out all the 'white' carbs (bread, pasta) can help.

I will take a look but i haven't eaten bread of any kind for the last 12 weeks and i dont eat pasta very often
