Hello Bernie623 and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum 😊

It sounds to me as if your are not eating enough at breakfast and lunch leading to low blood sugar by mid afternoon. Try eating a more substantial lunch and a lighter evening meal if possible. 😊 I find this helps many of my symptoms including night sweats. It is really important to eat enough so please find your target calories by checking your BMI (see below)

Here are a few more suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page but Monday's tend to be very busy so you may prefer another day ☺

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺

Best wishes

Anna

Hi Bernie623 . Welcome to the forum.

I know just how you feel....darn all that chocolate, it's everywhere more than ever at Easter!!!

We can only do what we can do, and at every given moment we have to make that choice. I see IndigoBlue61 has given you some great advice.

Don't go making chocolate a forbidden thing. However, having said that, don't keep it around in the house either!! It's just temptation! But if you can establish a generally healthy daily diet, it is fine to allow yourself to go and buy a bar of chocolate and enjoy it freely, just not every day! I would let myself have a bar every two or three weeks, and at other times find some other healthy but still yummy treat. I love mangoes!

As you start to cut down on sweet things a bit, especially sugar laden treats you will find your need and desire for them decreases. As an alternative, I always recommend Nakd bars in Chocolate Orange. It has a nice cocoa flavour, and is much lower calories than a bar of fatty chocolate.

Wishing you good luck!

Hello, Bernie623,

Anna and Ruby have said it all, really, but I will join in with my pennyworth of encouragement.

Eating three square meals a day comprising food that you really enjoy is important. There is no need to go hungry, and there is good reason not to cut calories too drastic; your body thinks its being starved and starts conserving rather tahn burning fat. Some folk find healthy snacks help. I am better sticking to mealtime eating because somehow, chewing makes my body expect its getting more than just a snack and I end up eating more than intended.

I used to get heartburn because I ate too much chocolate. Reminding myself of that unpleasantness helps deny the cravings.

Just remember that you can do it& that each day is new and is different.

All the very best.
