Well good morning! Hope you've all had a good week and enjoyed a bit of sun to make the exercise a little easier to go out and do!

This week I've tried a couple of new things - skipping (which broke me) and hill climbing which was great - I was much fitter than I thought and just needed to get over the mental hurdle of "oh I think I'll just walk along the seafront because I'll never manage the cliffs" and actually do it!! Also had a game of crazy golf, but can't really class that as cardio!! Did also do an hour's gardening (well, sweeping and pulling up the weeds from between my dodgy crazy paving) which was well overdue - I really do hate pulling up weeds!!

Planning on having a swim next week as it's been years since I ventured near a pool. I go to the gym at the school I work at, so have been stalking the pool to see when it tends to be kid free and now just need to get involved.

The roller skating still hasn't happened - bloomin sports hall always booked! But before the end of the month this will have occurred!

What new things have you been trying this week?

Hi BadlyDrawnBadger (love that name!)

It's always good to try out new things isn't it? I agree with you that skipping is difficult, too much bouncy/joggy movement.

Normally I enjoy the Tai Chi 24 Forms with its graceful posture, bending and stretching, but last week I tried Pilates and found that once on the floor it was difficult to get up again lol.

I'd quite like to resume tennis or badminton again in the summer, but not sure if I have that kind of energy or stamina anymore.

Apart from exercise, other new things recently include new, smaller clothes and trying out new diet recipes, both of which were enjoyable. πŸ˜€

Good luck with your swimming and the roller skating sounds great fun, I'd love that!

I love a bit of badminton, excellent for swatting away that work stress! Tennis requires way too much running for me!

Can you count eating an Easter egg before Easter as a new thing because sadly that's what I did last night lol. Thankfully I have a husband who loves chocolate so he polished off most of it.

On the plus side, I stepped up my spin bike class this week. Instead of 30 mins I've upped my time to 60 mins and it feels great.

Haha! Definitely! Well done on the extra spin class...that's great! I need to get back in a gym routine - have been enjoying walking in the sun but as work beckons again I haven't got the time for long wandering walks!!

well I have been looking through my Wii fitness and so did my strength part of the exercise using My Fitness Coach 30mins, did some more Zumba- still at beginner level but 30mins and 60mins of gardening- finding more of the Lillies that I have now designated as weeds so digging the soil up again- I dread to think how the sunshine and rain has help them to flourish again when I don't want them to! I'll find out tomorrow or may delay it until Monday so I can work off the Easter Egg I have been given!

Woo for the wii fit and all its variety! Enjoy your egg tomorrow and then embrace the digging!

do i have to embrace the gardening? had planned to split the easter egg over 3 days and include in my daily allowance. That didnt work- I ate it all in one go so thought well over my allowance according to the nhs weight loss plan it was still in the lower range given when i put my weight in at the start of the plan so not too disappointed. Though the 1lb I had lossed has been put back on!

Ah well - as long as you get back on it again the pound will soon come back off. I've had several days over the past week where I've been well over my calorie limit, but it's all about consistency in this game. I'm sure the Egg was tasty!! 😁 And you'll soon work it back off with the the delightful digging!! πŸ˜†

Hello BadlyDrawnBadger

Sorry you still haven't managed the roller skating πŸ˜• Sure you will soon 😊 But not a bad week for you overall

Having had a cold all week I've barely managed to keep up with my usual aerobics and gardening, but I did try one new thing, I sliced a butternut squash. . . Exhausting!! They're blooming tough things, I'm sure you burn more calories cutting it up than eating it!! Lol 😊

Have a good week

Haha! Maybe that should be a challenge for next month, to see which foods are the most traumatic to prepare!

Hope you feel better soon! I hate having spring/summer colds, it always feels super unfair!

Good morning to everyone and happy Easter. This last week not only did I get to my chair exercise. I also had an appointment with a personal trainer and for 45mins he put me through my paces show me how to use the treadmill and other stuff and also exercises that I can do without hurting my back. Also did my 1hrs walk 6 out of 7 days. Having a rest today cooking roast lamb and veg for my daughter and my self, my have a walk by the Thames after if the sun comes out.

That's brilliant! I'm sure the PT session will have been invaluable...I've been watching The Biggest Loser recently and thinking I'd definitely benefit from someone kicking my arse!!

Enjoy your roast today and hope the weather stays good for your walk!

Happy Easter BadlyDrawnBadger and everyone - I like the idea of this challenge and sadly can't think of anything much I did differently last week, but am taking inspiration from you all and am definitely going to do something different this week. I think I'll try to find a class of some kind to join in - I haven't done that for ages, as I've been using DVDs and Youtube at home instead. A class is longer though, and would test my endurance more....

Thanks for the prompt!

I think classes are great for keeping you motivated right to the end of the hour...I know with YouTube I'm terrible at cutting corners! It's also good to try something different - keeps your body guessing! Let us know how you get on next week!

I would like to do classes but since I work shifts and only allowed 4 requests per off duty it would mean all my requests would be taken for the classes limiting my options else where. So I have decided to get the Wii out of retirement and use my exercise discs again but more consistently. So far it seems to be working and can fit it around my days off

It's whatever works for you! I can never do anything like wii fit in the living room as my dog gets overexcited and decides to launch himself at me and hump my leg! As he weighs about 5 stone it can really put a crimp in your Zumba!! πŸ˜†

RG07 profile image
RG07Maintainer in reply to BadlyDrawnBadger

I can see how that would cramp your style, though your dog would like the new game! Locking him out of the room may cause him or her to go mad especially if your dog can hear strange noises coming out of the room they cannot go in!

Good Afternoon everyone. Sorry I am a bit late popping in here πŸ˜•. Well done to everyone for your achievements and all the wired and wonderful things. Well I didn't manage to get on my rebounder but goodness me I spent 10 mins out in the sunshine with my grandchildren on their huge trampoline. And boy was that hard! I see them bounce away for hours but after 10 mins I had wobbly legs πŸ˜‚. Well here's s to the coming week. And good luck to everyone for your anticipation of your new experiences x

Haha! My 6th form students keep telling me about a trampoline world place they go to - it always sounds pretty cool before I remember I haven't been on one since I was about 8 and I'm sure it's not as easy as I remember!!

Good luck with getting on the rebounder next week - I'm still thinking about getting one - maybe before the end of the month I'll be bouncing too!!
