Hi Macht,

I think just 1000 kcal is too low to maintain yourself.

Hi Maht have you checked out the nhs bmi calculator you could find you are not eating enough and your body has/will go into starvation mode, this in turn will stop you from losing weight, I hope this helps, good luck

Hi Macht,

Your body will cling onto fat if you cut your calorie intake too low, and you'll generally not feel good about what you're eating. 1000 calories a day is well below the minimum of 1400 calories you need and makes a lifestyle change to healthy eating for the long-term impossible.

Can I suggest you read the Newbies post? It's to be found under Pinned Posts to the right hand side of the Home screen - or at the bottom if using a mobile - there's lots of information there you'll find helpful. For your calorie intake (depends on height, weight, gender) have a look at nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyw... - gives a range of calories you should be eating (a lot higher than you'll be expecting), and best to start near the upper end so you can reduce as you lose weight.

Many forum members, myself included, follow the NHS 12-week plan (details also to right of the screen). This provides advice and a sheet for recording daily calorie intake/exercise - I'm on my second time round :-) It's very flexible so you could be following any change to your eating habits (e.g. 5:2 diet, low GI, or menus of your own choice). Some people decide to eat less of everything rather than cut out particular foods, while others join slimming clubs and use this forum for support and encouragement at difficult time. Whatever you decide to do, it's a change for life rather than a short-term diet - I've been a yo-yo most of my life and realised I had to stop, and relearn to eat.

Good luck with losing weight, we're all here to help!

Hello Maht and welcome to the weight loss forum ☺ I'm not surprised you aren't loosing weight, 1000 calories is very low.

Have a look at the suggestions below and ask if you have any questions

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺

Best wishes

Anna

I think 1000 calories per day is very low When you do not ear enough your body goes into starvation mode and you do not lose weight. Good luck with your weight loss.

Hi there Maht i have been away all weekend and this is my first day back, so I have only just noticed this. When I first joined I was doing similar thing to you and done this most of my life. I was told similar to you about your body thinking you are starving it and turns it into body fat. Because my husband done nothing but eat all day and is skinny as anything I decided to eat between the calorie intake told on my bmi index. Now I am losing weight and have lost almost 2 stone. I know this week I will put weight on because of my weekend away though. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply. The messages i get everyday is so different. I've been told by my nurse that fruit has got carbohydrate and eating them is adding more weight to my body. Since heard That I hardly eat fruits. 😕 I just find impossible to lose weight.

Perhaps have a look at the advice on the NHS 12 week plan and also on this website, which explains about eating carbs. You might not need to give up all your fruit.
