First, a disclaimer. For my Big Ride I didn't do a 50k road ride which is what this program was building up to. But I did manage 29 km (18 miles) off-road yesterday at Thetford Forest, where I did the Blue Trail (11 miles) and a sawn-off version of the Beaters Red Trail (5.4 miles). The remainder was clocked up by my having to zip back and forth to my car parked in a remote field and losing my way a bit! I know I couldn't have done any more, so I'm very happy with it. I'm never going to ride on roads, so I had to part company with The Plan. I am down another half kilo (pound) this week to 100.7 from last week's 101.2 so that's great. Now I plan to keep going on the same pattern (2 x weekday rides @ one hour each, 1 x weekend ride of about 2-3 hours). I will also keep up with the Tai Chi because it really helps with aches and pains, esp. the old bursitis. Oh, and walks on non-bike days.

I am similarly cautious of cycling on roads and am hoping to get a bike and find some local off-road routes, nothing beats that feeling does it?
