New start - again!

New start - again!

I have just re-joined, need motivation to get healthy. BMI , BP and cholesterol too high. Feeling hopeful, planning a holiday late summer so have a 12 week plan in mind and beyond. Need to lose a stone and a half... more interested in feeling better than the scales though. Bit of a couch potato. Like to dance, plan to join class for tap and ballet - when I pluck up the courage. Love food!

  • Go for it! I love dancing too, bit of soft shoe and tap 💃

Having the holiday to look forward to is a great motivator and will definitely keep you on track!

Good luck on your journey 🌹

  • Hi Katheros and welcome back :)

I don't know how long you've been away, but I'm going to give you all the newbie info anyway :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

  • Hello and welcome Katheros56 ☺ Good luck with the 12 week plan ☺ dancing is excellent exercise, and the fitter you get the more you can do ☺

Have a good look around the site and please ask if you have any questions ☺

    Best wishes

    Anna

  • Welcome back Katheros56. I have only been on here for a couple of months and I find it wholly inspiration with lots of good folk supporting each other like mad.

Get into the mindset of enjoying your weight loss journey and make it a food adventure, there are so many really exciting foods we can have and often forget about.

Good luck, you have certainly got a good incentive.

  • Thanks for the lovely replies. Had a good start yesterday. Looked at the site - a bit confused with some of it, but I will get there. My BMI was 28.3 - too high, so I marked up the 12 week plan my diary and the last week coincides with me handing in my resignation! Karma I think...I am taking early retirement from teaching after some ill health. Looking forward to be being a healthy slim me and free in September. I am off to look at the challenges now as I know exercise is my nemesis. Then some job hunting...maybe.
