Under height Over weight

Well I've done it now, joining to make a positive change to me! I've got about 2.5 + stone to loose. I'm trying to make this happen in 7 months and then to maintain till Christmas and then any pounds I've put on over Christmas to loose before the end of January. Anyway that's my goal, everyone needs a goal ( so I've been told!). So here I go.

  • Good luck sounds like great determination and focus you can make this happen

  • Hi Sherlock and welcome.

Great to have a plan and you've even built in some xmas relaxation, nice. You may want to add an initial mini goal, it tends to help to break the journey down into bite sized pieces (pun intended :) ), making it all more manageable.

An administrator will reply to this post later, supplying lots of useful information that's well worth taking the time to read through in some detail.

You can post any thoughts and questions at any time and there will always be a response from the super helpful people here.

    Good luck!

  • Hi and welcome, Sherlock :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

  • Good luck, set realistic goals and you can achieve them more which you have done :).

  • You sound positive and realistic. In my opinion it is definitely best to take it slowly, 1-2 lbs a week .

In my case it took 11 months. But the advantage was that I gradually retrained myself for certain foods, smaller quantities. I didn't really ban anything, just had some things much less often (which has made maintenance a lot easier) so the end result was I lost my excess 2 stone, my taste and my metabolism adjusted gradually, and I have since managed to maintain for 2 years (actually I'm now a further 5 lbs lighter with BMI 22) . It is a fact that people who lose too quickly rarely manage to maintain.

    Good luck with your progress!😊

  • Good luck to you I am on my second week now it's lovely to get support from everyone so keep up with the posts 😊

  • I know how you feel. For my weight I think I should be about 6ft, but I am only 5ft 1! Good luck
