Binge eating

I've been going to a slimming club for over a year and needed to lose 2 stone. I got to 1st 10 at one point but slowly piling it back on! I now need to lose a stone and have put on 11lbs since October. I comfort eat all day every day, don't stop thinking about snacks all day and I'm constantly in the cupboard looking what I can shove down my neck next! My meals are ok it's just the constant 'need' and craving for sweets, chocolates, crisps, cakes!! I've always been the same and tried to get help but I don't think anyone can help me apart from myself! I have a happy life, lovely husband 2 small children a teenager and 2 step children so it's not an option to not have these foods in the house! I do suffer from depression and I 100 % feel this is due to how I feel about the way I look and the desperate need to get to target. Is anyone the same? can anyone help getting to the root of why we do this??

Hi I am excactly the same I was at slimming world for two years and lost a stone I even helped out in the shop Hoping that would spur me on but I found the group so boring the leader asking the same questions to us all so I left and hence have put all the weight on and more. I find the support that you get from this forum is brilliant as I have had an awful night last night drinking way too much and now feel miserable about it but today is another day I wish you lots of luck and stay in touch 😊

Thank you for your reply. I know what you mean about s/w, I guess I keep going as I've made friends and also see it as a bit of a coffee morning. I know if I gain I don't go and it's the worse thing as the bingeing then continues into another week. I'm excited about reading all these posts and probably relating to what a lot of people say. I would be the same miserable about what I've had but then have more to comfort them feelings :-( like you say today is another day, try and block it out what you had forget about it and move on to what I would say is a lovely spring morning outside :-)

Good morning ilovefood123. Me too!🐒 I'm doing my best making healthy choices. Portion size/amount is my problem. More so if it is any of my favorites. So must take control of this. Not easy when doing this for a life time. Here's hoping that we can all do this. The group forum is proof that you can. Have a great weekend.🙂 George 56.

Hey George, have you tried using the small plate and bowl trick for portion size. I've only ate from a side plate or a small dessert bowl since starting and have found it very effective.

You really are not alone its a little bit of a viscous circle

Slimming groups are great ( I did one) its not them its our mindset that does it to us. After losing a bit you get a bit complaincent - staying healthy and maintaining and our mind needs to be able to do it itself after, Itis a life long commitment. We owe it to ourselves and families to fit it in to our lifes and everyones is different.

Do you and the children do any exercises sometimes just walking getting out in the fresh air helps make us have a possitive outlook.

I do a happiness challenge online and its helped me, try writing your frustrations down but also your inspirations we all have them if we dig deep.

This is a great forum with some wonderful supportive unjudgemental people maybe you have found it for a reason like myself

Good Luck ilovefood123 x

Thank you so much. (I can already feel myself smiling a little reading posts) I like what you said about maybe I've found this for a reason, I'm hoping so.

I would like to say I do get out but no not really! I do what I need to on a morning, I do go to the gym 3 times a week (but only one of these is a morning) I then find myself staying in on an afternoon, before I know it I'm so so tired and nodding off waking up to desperately needing to raid the cupboards! Yes definitely something I need to change! xx

Hi and welcome, ilovefood :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you, especially the Sugar Free for March challenge, to help with your compulsive snacking.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)
