Nearly had a 4am setback.

I really didn't want to get up fo the walk to work this morning. I thought have another hour in bed and book a taxi😡, but led there I realised that was the deffeative attitude that got me here in the first place.

So I begrudgingly got up to walk the 3.4 miles to work.

This is what seems to happen with me, I start off with good intentions but I believe because of all the inspirational comments I have received in my short time on here I would be letting you good people down and that's what I need to do this.

Hi Dread and don't beat yourself up. When it comes to motivation most of us here are in the same boat.That aside, you overcame and each time we do, I believe it makes us stronger. That's an impressive distance as well.

Keep it up, you're doing really well.

Ps. I've been lying here trying to sum up the enthusiasm to walk the dogs, tidy the house, do my core strength spinal exercises and get to the swimming pool for 6:30 so that I can get to work for 8. Your post is inspirational.

Thank you Tiggerr that has lifted my spirits no end and honestly I have surprised myself the past 3 days walking to work and also getting out after work with my not so little Labrador lol.

Never thought of myself as an inspiration but I'll take that... cheers! BTW that's not a daily occurrence :)

As for the sleep, like a lot of what I do its disorganised... anywhere between 8 and 10 but will prob wake up for 1 to 3 hours somewhere during the night and then up by 6 at the latest. I've had about 9 years of v. bad sleep (stress). Each time I sleep now, its contented and when I wake I'm 'pretty much' alert straight away.

Its nasty not having a decent sleep pattern. My other half cant believe I'm out for the count when my head huts the pillow but like yourself through the night I'm waking up but don't know why.

I'm hoping it is weight related and will get better when I start loosing some, plus my snoring is atrocious according to my other half.

The thing is when I know I don't need to be up at that early hour to travel to work I'm not as bad.

Wow I'm really impressed! That looks like a long cold road at 4am , and I think you have wonderful motivation! It makes my cycle into town pale into insignificance - I shall think of you when I can't be bothered!

How much does a taxi cost? How about, every time you walk, put the taxi money in a jar , and whenyou reach one of your goals wweight wise , then spend it on a reward.

And I'm sure it won't be too many more weeks before you'll be walking to work accompanied by the dawn chorus and beautiful sunrises.

Well done, keep going.

That sounds a great idea about putting the taxi money away.

At £5 a time it will soon add up.

Hi dread I don't think you are a defeatesed at all, we all feel like that especially towards the end of a working week. I think it's fantastic that you walk that far every day then do a full days work. You have come a long way and you must feel so much better. I on the other hand found out last night my bmi is 30 so I am officially obese not great. I won't give up though it just might take a bit longer to reach my goal. Have a great day 😊

Thank you for those words. I also when I started last Friday had a BMI in the 30s and I was cracking the scales at 18st 7lb.

Its like my better half said, When the weight starts declining I will find the walk easier so I should not knock myself. Lucky I don't do this early start every week so I have decided when I'm on a later start to walk it home.

The idea about saving the money the taxi would have cost is an excellent one. That should help your motivation.

I am in awe of your ability to get up so early and walk so far in the dark before starting your day's work. You're amazing.

Saving the taxi fare in a jar is a great idea - I did it with dry January - put £5 (shameful!!!) In a jar each day, and at the end of Jan I used the money to take my hubby away for his birthday :)

What can I say that hasn't already been said Hidden . Not sure my motivation would be that great at 4am in the morning. The idea of saving the taxi money is great JiminyCricket , what a good incentive.
