What's your thoughts on fitbits? Do they help with motivation? I don't do a lot of walking due to sore knees and ankles but I know this is something which will help with the weight loss.

Fitbits
Hi Finnstar
I had a fitbit for my birthday last July and wear it all the time. I find it great for motivating me to keep walking and aiming for 10,000 steps a day, when it buzzes to say I reached my target I feel good knowing I achieve something today towards my weight loss.
I also use it to record all my calories, exercise and water drunk each day which helps me to keep on track. I think I would be lost without mine now.

Hi YellowRose55
Which Fitbit do you have and is it quite straightforward to use? Can I also ask how you access the 12 week plan here?
It's the flex one and very easy to use. I can record all my exercises, what food I eat, sleep, water drunk and keep a record of my weight loss. So it covers all I need it for.
The 12 week plan is on the Home page at the right hand side or if your on a mobile at the bottom. Just click on where it says download and it will open up all 12 weeks.
i have mine set for 6000 steps a day - I know the ideal target is 10,000 but it ain't happening on a daily basis so set mine to a target which is something I can achieve each day - made me so proud when I hit it before 12 noon a few days.
I love tracking my sleep though it as it has really opened my eyes (no pun intended)
I use Fitbit charge hr . I synch it with my iphone. I don't wear it at night and it needs charging about once a week with the heart rate monitor set to auto. It is easy to use. There is one called Fitbit Alta which has changeable straps which looks nicer than mine which is a bit manly and rubbery.
Can't be having that, I need a bit of pink!! Lol
They do come in different colour but stil rubbery
I have the blaze which is great - I did have the HR but gave that to a uni student (one of mine )
I've had a Fitbit, Up2 and now have a Garmin. I think they're great for motivating me to do more exercise - will very often be found marching while the kettle is boiling in order to get to that goal! The app is the most important thing I think - the Jawbone app was my favourite, the Garmin one is a little complicated for the amount of exercise I do, but that's the bit I'd check out rather than just what the tracker does / what it looks like. The problem with the UPs is their straps tend to break after a year and you can't replace them, which is why I moved to garmin.
I'd definitely get one - if you've not got a very active job it's great to just remind you to get up and move.
absolutely love mine and is the best thing i bought... i do exercise at the gym and it produces graphs to show your heart rate... mine is a charge hr 2 in purple... i also have a flex 2 that i use when i go swimmjng to record how many lengths i do.. im a gadget girl so it really motivates me to do more...
Hello!
I have a Fitbit also! I have the Charge HR! It did wonders for me a few months ago (before I got comfortable and had to restart my efforts)
I find it fascinating to see my heart rate and the calories I burn through the day!
I need to sync it to my new phone and get back to wearing it!
😄
I had one and thought it would motivate me but my phone has a fitness app on it and does the same. The Fitbit does add steps when you are in the car though which I found rather annoying. Otherwise they are good if you have nothing else to track you.
I've had a Fitbit One for about 4 years and more recently Charge HR to keep a handle on my heart rate. I have high blood pressure and was curious to see if pushing my heart rate up a bit more would have a positive effect on my health.
It's not so much keeping track of the steps but having the competition from Fitbit friends that keeps me motivated. I've been doing between 100k-150k steps each week since the start of the year and hate to see anyone else overtaking my daily totals! Pushes me a wee bit more to get back on track and go out walking, dancing in the kitchen, marching on the spot while cleaning my teeth or waiting for the kettle to boil... every chance I can get to move a bit more.
I loved my Fitbits until I discovered the Helo Wellness band - absolutely amazing, tracks, steps, breathe rate, mood, energy levels gives an ECG reading when you want - brilliant
I love my fitbit! Ive got a charge HR which measures heart rate. It also links up with MFP to make the calories i use/have left more accurate. My friend also has one so we do weekly/daily competitions on it to keep motivated. Also great for tracking loads of other stuff like sleep!
My mum says her Fitbit has "changed her life"!
i bought my fitbit 6 months ago its great for motivation i wear mine round my neck
