Hi everyone, just joined today and am looking to lose a lot of weight, about 7 stone, I have been following a plan on another site, lost 11 lbs in the first weeks which was great but then seems to have ground to a halt and only lost 1/4 lb last week even though I stayed within my calorie limit of 1470 calories, not sure if I am eating enough as according to the NHS chart for my height, age etc I should be eating between 1672 to 2149 calories, any advice gratefully received.

Hi and welcome, Susie :)

Well done for losing 11lbs, but I suspect your weight loss has halted, because you're not eating enough. Read this for a more detailed explanation :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you :)

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news :)

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate :)

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too :)

Thank you so much, will read those and recalculate my calories to around 1700-1750 per day and see how it goes, will let you know :)

Hi Susie, we seem to have joined at the same time and have roughly the same amount of weight to shift. It's a daunting thought but I am going to take it 7lbs at at time rather than think how am I going to lose 5 or 6 stone!

Good idea Finnstar ! What about putting 7 lb of sand in a plastic bag Susie_1 then you can feel what it looks like. I need to lose another 5 stone (hopefully get my 1 stone badge on Monday) and can't really see much difference yet, but a 7 lb weight is rather heavy and that spurs me on...xx

Hi, that also sounds a good idea, or maybe when I am next shopping try 7lb of lard in my basket to see how much that weighs x

Hi Finnstar, sounds good to me :)

Good luck on your goals and well done for losing some weight already. However, don't be tempted to eat less to lose more...that can be the worse thing you could to because it can slow down or even stop weight-loss. Follow your calories recommendation and you should be fine. :)
