Hi LinaLamont and everyone,

I am just writing up my run for the Tortoise and Hare post.

I went to the gym in the late morning, and decided to run 1km at a time, and do some walking inbetween - therefore trying to do 'interval' runs - and I was amazed by how this spurred me on to actually run longer than I normally would!

I ended up running for 50 minutes - and I ran a distance of 7km! I am attaching a photo of my Fitbit data - showing my heart rate during the run - I worked hard, and the process transformed me from someone who had felt incredibly reluctant to go there in the first place - to someone who felt energised and enthusiastic afterwards, and enabled me to be really productive for the rest of the day.

I am hoping to run outside for my second run of the week, so hope to do a cliff-path run on the weekend.

Hope everyone is having a great week and Happy Running to all of you in the Tortoise and Hare Club.

Zest :-)

I can hardly walk never mind run. I was at hospital wed morn . I have a planter fascists. Also pain at the side of my foot on the inside near my ankle . The dr does not know what this is. So got to have a MRI. I am cooking more than and doing it from scratch and enjoying it. Even better enjoy eating it. I have also made soup with Kale and enjoyed it. Have a good weekend I shall be resting this weekend.

Hi Caroline,

I have heard how painful plantar fascilitis can be, and I am so sorry to hear you're suffering with yours. I hope you get your MRI done soon and can hear the results, and I hope they can get to the bottom of the pain on the inside of your foot near your ankle.

Great to hear you're enjoying cooking from scratch, and that the Kale soup was good - that sounds like a really healthy bowl of soup!

Hope you have a lovely restful weekend, and that you will enjoy it.

You take care,

Zest :-) xx

Fandabedozy, Zest! That's brilliant, well done you! :)

I seem to be the opposite to you! I hate intervals, I find it exhausting! I think I'm basically lazy and only enjoy poodling! :D

My goodness, after all that you'll be super fit and bounding up that cliff path! :)

Hi moreless - nothing wrong with poodling - that sounds very relaxing, but I doubt you are 'poodling' as you're doing mega distances at the moment - wasn't it 16km you did only yesterday or the day before? That is PHENOMENAL. Well done you! :-)

I'll let you know how I feel when I do that cliff-path run - I doubt I'll be 'bounding up it' though - but I'll do my best to get round the course in one piece. :-)

Good luck with your next run.

Hi Ruth,

Thanks so much! :-) It definitely made a very positive difference to my day, and has spurred me onwards, and hopefully downwards. :-)

well done and thanks for this zest, fantastic work! hope your cliff top run goes ok. that's so good that you felt energized. runs tire me out so much.. that's why i mostly run in the evenings. maybe i'm doing something wrong?!

Hi Lina,

Thanks so much! :-) I have occasionally had runs that have tired me out as well - I think it all depends on what you've been doing on the same day as the run, or maybe on your 'fuelling' of the body for your run? I don't know, but hopefully you'll enjoy your next run, and so will I. Here's hoping for a good one! :-)

hmm, interesting... maybe it's also a question of what your body is used to... as I only really occasionally run in the daytime, I've trained myself to think it's bedtime as soon as I come back ... :D

just got back from a 25 min run, it was indeed enjoyable :-)

Hi Concerned,

I think so! I am presuming that's what that meant - as it is labelled as 'average heart rate' and I think it means for the whole 50 minutes.

What do you think of that rate?

Zest :-)

Hi Concerned,

I appreciate your reply - it's helpful. I did think it was quite high, especially as I'm 50 years old - and I will hopefully adapt accordingly, bearing in mind your advice - although I have to say I've left plenty of recovery time between runs, as I probably won't get to do another one till the weekend - and most likely Sunday. :-)

Hope you have an enjoyable weekend.

Zest :-)
