Hi All,

I quit smoking on the 1st of January and have stayed off since.... Unfortunately I've put on a fair amount of weight in that time.

Therefore I come here, on my way to being healthy, to meet and gain encouragement from those on a similar path.

On the 1st of January I was 100kg. 2 weeks ago I was 102kg. Yesterday 18th February I was 100.8kg.

I've joined the local pure gym and I'm going 3 times a week and doing an hour of cardio. I'm on my 2nd week of that.

Diet wise I'm exercising a control of how often I eat so I eliminate snacks and trying to eat healthier and that seems to be working.

I am 6ft tall, 38 and still trying to quit smoking (which is my priority). I want to look good naked...As I'm sure we all do.

Any advice is welcome, whether regarding exercise or diet!

Good luck everyone!

Hi Frank and welcome. Congrats on giving up the smoking, that's huge.

I'm not sure what you mean about the weight gain, is there a typo? It looks like you put on a couple of kilos and then knocked most of it off.

Sounds like you're doing really well on the exercise front as well.

I was 93 kg in September so it feels bigger to me. You're right! On the scale of things it's not a big gain considering but my goal is to get to 90 kg ASAP and that seems like it will be at least 12 weeks away.

Hi and welcome, Frank :)

Well done for quitting the cigs and joining us here before things got too far out of control :)

I started both of my journeys on the same day and, to date, have been smoke free for 17 months and lost 7 stone, so it's definitely doable. Mind you, I'm never going to look good naked!! :D :D

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you :)

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news :)

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate :)

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too :)

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)
