5:2 Diet - 500 calories only for the two days yikes

hi can anyone suggest the rest of the meals that i could eat totalling 500 calories?

i do love my porridge first thing - i cook from scratch 50gm of oats but then i sprinkle nuts, goji berries or cranberries, honey, linseed.....i love that ..... that might creep up in calories eh?

then for lunch, tea and dinner, your suggestions....just over 500 cals would work too to start?

  • You can search for recipes on the internet, Pinterest is good. Also there are some good cookery books devoted to this diet. Like every cookery book you will only use some of the recipes so might be worth looking in the library or a local bookshop to see what suits.

  • I'd look for some good low calorie soup recipes for lunch. Veg soup is around 100 calories a bowl & mushroom soup can have as little as. 30-50 calories a bowl, depending on how you make it.

  • that should have been 500 calories per day for the two days not 500 calories for both days sorry

  • I find porridge uses up too many of my precious 500 calories! And carbs for breakfast also makes me feel hungry sooner. On my two fast days, I have blueberries for breakfast, homemade vegetable soup for lunch, so far about 160 cal, then something out of the Hairy Dieters cook book for less than 300 cal or a chicken + veg stir fry, the rest of the cals are teas and coffee. Works for me usually (although anyone who has been following me will know I've had a blip this week thanks to Valentine's Day!)

  • Thanks for that, very helpful advice....i will try it.... well Valentines Day comes once a year....so you could be forgiven...for the small oversight
