Hi and welcome, leafbug :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you :)

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news :)

Have a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate :)

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too :)

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Hi leafbug love the name:) I haven't really stopped eating anything, I just have it in moderation and build it into my calories for the day. Maybe you could just cut right back on the wine and crisps and only have them a couple of times a week. Change your crisps for something with less calories, quavers for instance. Going 'cold turkey' doesn't work for me, I just then crave things. I appreciate this isn't the same for everybody. Well done on the couch to 5K and good luck with the weight loss.

Yes! Quavers will do nicely with a small wine once a week when the kids are allowed their treat. Thanks, maybe it's the community support I need 😄

Hi,

Continue your efforts... do the right things and keep doing them... the results will come later.

THERE IS NO FAILURE... THERE IS ONLY FEEDBACK.

Take feedback from some sensible people around you. Be open to feedback. Don't be defensive. Don't be emotional. Examine every habit of yourself like a Sherlock Homes.

Throw out of your house wine and snacks or whatever is ruining your shape/figure/health.

Be bold and be strong.

Change your habits and change your life.

If something has not worked last time, there must have been an implementation issue.

If a rocket does not take off, there is a problem in the mechanism... you can't blame gravity for it.

Change your rocket and take off. All the best ! :)

Hi leafbug

Different things work for different people. Like dt_ said, if something doesn't work, that just means that route wasn't for you.

Exercise is vital but most weight loss is about diet, it's calories in vs calories burnt. So sure exercise helps with calories burnt, but - like you've implied - calories in is where both the real damage and the real magic happens. I tend to find weight loss or control is all about preparation. Count your calories ahead of time, plan your days' food and snacks a week ahead. Use apps or websites to help with this, my go too is myfitnesspal. Then get everything in, have the meals prepared. If I'm hungry and tired and the good food isn't ready or within easy reach, I'll eat whatever! I'm not that strong in the moment! But I am stronger ahead of time. Maybe that's just me, maybe this could work for you too, preparation preparation preparation. And if it doesn't work for you don't worry, keep asking and searching, and you'll find what works for you. Good luck!

Very much agree with planning ahead and I write it all down so I don't forget what my plan was lol.

Thankyou! It's my first time at the online support thing. It's a great motivator. I will be checking in during my danger zone.. 4am on my night shifts. I will be prepared😄

Hi & Welcome!

I only started at the end of last week so not had my first weigh in yet!😬

I'm using my fitness pal & setting up my diary in the morning with what I've got planned for breakfast, lunch, dinner etc. I then can see how many calories I've got to use on snacks and chose wisely! I also can't go cold turkey but it has definitely helped to reduce the amount of rubbish I'm taking in which I figure is a step in the right direction!

Good luck & keep, posting & reading the motivating posts on here 😊
