Excercise in vain

Hello. I'm anneshirly from Japan. I'm new here.

I really want to lose my weight at least 2 stones as soon as possible.

I make it a rule to do yoga 4 or 5 days a week and swim in the pool twice a week.

But I don't think it is effective. Maybe I eat more than excercise.

Do you think the best way to lose weight is to reduce an amount of food I eat???

  • Diet is the most important part of weight loss so you need to sort out your food.

  • Thank you for your advice.

I'll eat more veggies, less sweats though I have a sweat tooth.

  • Hi and welcome, Anneshirley :)

    There's a saying, "you can't outrun a bad diet" :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you :)

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news :)

Have a look at the 12 week plan, as many people have been successful following it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate :)

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too :)

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

  • Thank you for your great advice.

English is not my first language.

But I'll try to follow you all.

  • Hi Anneshirly,

Our bodies are designed for exercise and movement... It never goes in vain.

Just like a car is designed to move and a boat designed to sail.

Regarding your exercise.. It has to be more intense like jogging, aerobics or treadmill etc.

Yoga and pool is not that intense, hence your won't burn much fat through yoga/swim.

You diet too has to be balanced, low in calories, more in fruits, veggies and water.

You can monitor your calories through Myfitnesspal app. It gives a good picture of your daily consumption of food Vs exercise.

Make a long... Lifelong commitment to being healthy fit slim trim .. don't expect short term results.. Your body expects you to nurture it properly for entire life.

Slow and steady wins the race.. Just keep moving.. Stay motivated... stay active.. moving.. striving.. become a fitness freak... nutrition expert.

    All the best :)

    Happy to help

  • Your words convinced me.

    I need more intense excercise!

The last paragraph you wrote for me is just wonderful.

    I'll repeat it every day.

  • Superb! Just Do It!

  • Yes definitely as at the moment I am unable to do any exercise and I have still lost weight all due to eating less and more healthily

    Good luck 😀

  • You prove we can lose our weight even if we don't do excercise. I understand diet is more important. Thank you!

  • I really thought I was going to have such a struggle to lose but since I joined this site I have lost a stone Exercise is important to keep you healthy but it is eating less that will ultimately make you lose weight 😉

  • I totally agree with you.

Eating less first and excercise second.

    I started veggies based diet.
