Hi and welcome, jdfowler :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you :)

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news :)

Have a look at the 12 week plan, as many people have been successful following it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate :)

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too :)

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Hi jdfowler there is no such thing as just a mum. US mums do an amazing job. You are a lovely person believe in yourself take things slowly you will get there. Believe in yourself you can and will do this. Hope this doesn't sound patronizing not meant to

You are only 24 so your children must be still little - you are doing the most important job in the world and it's so hard to make time for yourself in all that. My children are 9 & 13 and I am only just now facing up to losing the baby weight properly. I know younever put yourself first as a mum, but your children will hugely benefit from your better health and increased cconfidence, so committing yourself to losing weight will be good for all of you. There's a weigh-in every day, so you can choose a day of the week you like, and join that weekly group to share your starting weight and goals - there's one today if you want to go for it!! Good luck x

I put on loads of weight after my first never got rid of it then piled more on with the other two so I know how you are feeling. With the eating left overs of the children I got into the habit as soon as they finish pour washing up liquid over each plate .Give it a try x chin up not easy when I went out I had to keep repeating in my head if I don't go then my children don't go out then they miss out .Good luck x

as others have said it's very hard being a mum and putting yourself 1st is difficult... there is no way I would let any of my kids leave in the morning without breakfast but I did... I dont let them have fizzy drinks but I had diet coke's.. id make them nice healthy tea and make them eat their veg but I would eat later and have a takeaway & glass of wine. I would make sure they had 3 meals a day.... but I didn't!!

3 months ago I joined a gym just to get a bit of "me time" and it's the best thing i ever did. I'm a stone lighter now and I am eating 3 meals a day now. I only eat carbs after a workout and the rest of the time its no carb meals.

I know its difficult when you have young ones but just setting yourself little goals each week will help them to be part of your routine ..like... week 1 - "Im going to have a healthy breakfast everyday!" and once you've cracked it them set yourself another.

I find if you to try change everything all at the same time then you fail & are miserable .. i say take baby steps and change slowly and then it will become normal x

Good luck x

Well you have come to the right place you will get loads of support and advice on here At least you know where you are going wrong with snacking and finishing the children's meals it's all too tempting With their leftover food throw it away as soon as they have definitely left it take the temptation away As you are snacking you need to fill up with healthy foods for your main meals Always have breakfast and a good lunch soup is brilliant for making you feel full Herbal teas will fill you up too so reach for one of those instead of a snack fruit too

Also get photos of how you were before you gained weight put one on the fridge look at clothes you would love to wear Keep a food diary it will shock you into stopping the snacks

Write down all the reasons why you want to lose weight and keep reading them

Try not to buy things you know you won't be able to resist but equally dont deprive yourself as you will crave it

Hope that helps wishing you loads of luck and we are all here to get you back to a beautiful happy you 😉

I put on weight with my kids too, and it is hard to look after yourself as well as everyone else! One thing that helps me is that if there is left over food that hasn't been served out, I put it in a tub for lunch the next day - it works really well to avoid that feeling of needing to finish the last bit up, and means I have something healthy for lunch the next day. Good luck, and stick with it.

Stay a Fabulous Mom but a Fab & Fit Mom.

1. Keep lots of fruits and salads on table or easily accessible places so that when you feel hungry you can nibble on fruits and not on junk.

2. Drink a glass of water every hour. Drink plain /salted lime water morning and evening.

3. Its better to let food go waste than to your 'Waist'. Stop polishing kids plates, its not your job.

4. Do not push extra food into your kids plates, let them go slow and steady. Pour only small portions for them.

5. Take small portions in your plate at one time.

6. Eat slow and chew properly. Get rid of junk food from your home. Bring only essential things required leaving out the high calorie stuff.

7. Be strong be bold and be confident.

8. Fight back for your fitness

9. Play with your kids and build your fitness.

10. Keep smiling, keep striving, keep moving, stay happy and stay blessed. :)
