What do you count as exercise?

As advised by the NHS, I aim to do at least 150 minutes of exercise a week. I don't count my cycling which is how I always get about the city and I don't count walking either.

If you're keeping track, do you count your transport as exercise? Most weeks I'm way over 150 but I was just wondering really :)

I don't count any physical activities that I do on a daily basis. I only count the actually exercise that I do, you know the few hours I set aside per week that are actually dedicated for exercise. So if I walk daily in work I don't count it.

But other people count their steps per day so I suppose everybody has their own way of classing what is exercise or not.

I would count exercise like swimming, cycling but general walking I wouldn't count but if I did a big weekend walk I would count it. I think it is good to be as generally active as possible.

I would count general walking if I counted the steps. My Fitbit has broken, must buy another.

I walk the dog for half an hour at least every day (used to be twice a day, but she is 14 now). If that's not exercise, what is it?? They say you should only do what you enjoy doing - so no point joining a gym for me, and with steep hills all around me, I'm not going to be riding a bike. I know I could do more walking, but would that still not count as exercise for you purists?😊

I don't count it because I barely do it, I would definitely count a dog walk if I were lucky enough to be back at home walking my doggies! For me it doesn't seem worth counting the walk when I am very slow and only doing it for a few minutes :P

I count everything as I've always been led to believe all movement was a plus.

Hi there, I would count everything (except housework) only because until very recently I did nothing.

Hi the above link (can;t set up the hyperlink for it) gives advice on what counts as exercise- but I would count your cycling and if you get slighlty breathless and/or warm when you are walking then that counts. You sound very active already but some people aren't its sounds you don't need to add any extra exercise to what you are doing
