I hate being ill.

Of course as soon as you start getting into your regime, eating better and starting to actually lose weight, you get sick. Ear infection, eczema, puffy eyelids... Did anyone else get sick all over when first starting?

If anything at least it helped my eating, with the lack of sleep I was getting I had to make sure I had actual food to keep me awake at work. In total I've now lost 5 pounds from when I started which is great, but I'd like the immune system to work!

(The eczema and eyelids do have explanations to them at least, but all at once with an ear infection? No thanks mate)

OOO that sounds awful - healing hugs to you x x

I didn't get sick thankfully, but found I started sleeping better

Yeah I found after exercising and a shower I slept great, then I got the office lurgy...

in reply to

Office lurgy is not good - I got that when we moved offices and it lasted ages, we have moved offices again and this time (touch wood) I have been ok

Hope you are on the mend real soon xx

is it a confirmed ear infection and are you exercising Alice?

in reply to

Yeah it's on the mend now, had prescribed antibiotics and all that. The exercising has definitely gone down, am making sure I get out and at least walk daily though. I'm not sure if getting back on the bike would help or make my ear worse again.

in reply to

I was just wondering if it might be a muscle strain but if a doc has confirmed it as an infection then it must be.

It wouldn't do any harm to give the bike a rest until the ear is better would it?

If you still have the eczema try eating some coconut oil you can also rub it onto the effected skin. might help you a bit.

in reply to

Thanks, I'll definitely try the coconut oil. c:

don't eat to much, try a spoonful a day to begin with, don't take more than two or three.

I hope you get better soon.

When you reduce cals there's a possibility you could be cutting out a nutritional group, e.g. fat soluble vitamins, or calcium if you've cut down cheese or similar. Might be worth checking your food intake covers all the vits your body needs to stay well? Also exercise doesn't just burn fat etc it requires minerals to replenish electrolytes and to build muscle e.g. magnesium, potassium etc. There are supplements of course, e.g. I take a fizzy multivitamin, feroglobin, high 5 zeros for exercise minerals, but I think if you can get these from real food it's better. The vegan society website has good advice about healthy sources of vitamins etc. But also it's worth speaking to a nurse at your surgery for advice if you're unsure of anything. I even had blood tests done recently to check for immune system stuff, all came back mostly fine though... nothing that stood out as being under apart from calcium and phosphates. Which of course I straight away checked were covered by my usual food groupings! Good to arm yourself with info where you can. Hope you feel better soon :)
