Celeriac Chips & tuna steak

Just thought I'd share my rather delicious dinner with you all - it's a seared tuna steak (197 calories) with swede, mushrooms fried in a little butter and celeriac chips. All together, including olive oil and butter for cooking, a lovely plateful of food for just 523 calories.

As per Jamie Oliver instructions, we cooked the (somewhat thin) steaks for just 1.5 minutes each side after brushing them with olive oil so that they were still pink in the centre. Much nicer than in the past where I have cooked the pinkness out. He also suggested drizzling a little olive oil and lemon juice over them once cooked, so that's what we did. Very tasty! Will be trying them again using some different marinades.

I actually decided to tackle my daughters bedroom (she's just gone back to Uni), so vacuuming, wiping, dusting, moving bits of furniture to clean behind them, stripping the bed - probably burned off a few hundred calories...

Oh thanks Pineapple27 that has inspired me to check out the fresh tuna. Our local supermarket has a great fish counter but I never buy tuna. Looks great.

I'm sure it's completely different to the tinned kind. 🐟

Yes, very different to tinned! Very "meat like" and not as strongly flavoured. Very good for you though as so low in saturated fat and high in all the omegas. Absolutely packed with protein (over 86%).

Only 523 calories and it looks fantastic, I might just give this a go.

Thank you.

Celeriac chips are delicious! The only thing is that more and more people seem to be cottoning onto this vegetable, so it's now fairly hard to get hold of from the supermarkets! I have ordered three this week!

How do you cook them?

Peel the celeriac, cut it into chunky chip size pieces. Place into a roasting tin, drizzle with a little olive oil. Place into a pre heated oven 200 degrees for around 20 - 25 minutes, turning half way through, until the edges are starting to brown. The chips shouldn't be golden brown, as they'd be over cooked then.
