Never too old - I'm surprised at how helpful this site is - I am in my first week and already 1kg lighter - but it took me ages to start an exercise routine before I could bear to cut down on how much I eat. I have always had a pedometer but my feet hurt if i do more than 5k steps a day, so I do a shorter walk and started daily tai chi in October. Started using an exercise bike as well in November. Now I have got my exercise regular and how I like it, only now am I cutting the cals. I read somewhere that live yogurt makes you crave more healthy food. It may be a placebo but it's working for me. I have high BP and I can't tolerate the meds so this is my only hope of avoiding them. You CAN do it! Just see it as a long-term plan and do it step by step.

Hi, You are never to old to make that change, start by taking small steps and having easy to reach targets.

I don't know what your goals are but you're not too old. I let myself put on too much after I retired but with the support of this forum I've lost one and a half stone , more than I ever expected and I'm 76. You can do it . Just don't make it a gallop for a distant goal. Small achievable steps and you'll get there. Good luck. We're all with you.😊😊

Good morning scottiedog and welcome to the forum. No of course you are not too old. Any time is the right time. We often forget too look after ourselves until a light goes on and we think enough is enough. I am 75 and have been trying to eat better and be more active since September. In this time I have lost one stone, three inches off my waist and my cholesterol has gone from 7.2 to 5.5 and I have to say I am feeling very happy about this. I am carer for my husband and need to keep well for him. I am fortunate that my health is good generally but I do have arthritis in my hips and knees. I do walk quite a lot and I do gentle yoga classes for older people in the hope of improving my balance as I am inclined to fall. Sorry, this is all about me but it was meant as encouragement not boasting, Ha ha! Keep in touch we oldies must stick together. x

Hi, you aren't too old to change! In a recent Slimming World mag there was a story about a lady of 70 who had lost something like 6 stones. She looked absolutely fantastic, 20 years younger, and, more importantly, she was enjoying life so much more.

What was also interesting was that it didn't take her any longer than the younger slimmers to shift the weight. Self-discipline is all!

Best of luck!
