Hello Fitbutfat ☺welcome to the forum ☺ Things are quite busy today but please bear with us ☺Have a good look around the site, especially the Newbies post and the links to the NHS 12 week plan, and ask if you have any questions. We are a very friendly group ☺

BMI figures are guidelines and not a totally accurate reflection of how much fat our bodies are carrying, so don't be despondent. Small steps and small goals are much easier to handle ☺

I will keep a note of your name and try to sort out a newbies badge for you shortly ☺

Best wishes

Anna

Hello Fitbutfat , welcome to the forum! :-)

You have come to the right place for support, and you will soon be seeing the numbers on the scales going down! Your goal is achievable. What I find helps is to set mini goals to work towards, so for example, just to lose that first half a stone. It's helps it seem less daunting.

Have a look at this post for newbies, it has lot's of advice to get you started.

You need a plan, others here have given you the starting point............................ it's a tough journey, you can have treats and drinks, I love my food, I just accept I need to have less of it.

By accepting you need change you are already more mindful of stuff, food and drink, and what you need to do to lose weight, please try and be distracted and draw up a menu plan to help you. As you begin to start losing you will feel inspired to carry on.

Good luck

I know I think the figures are too daunting so I am loosing weight to a number which looks and feels comfortable for me and that is much less than I am now. Any weight loss should be ce!ebrated, I work in half stones and keep a reasonable end figure in my head. When I reach that I will know whether that is right for me, and if it's not I will loose more. In the past I've found its the keeping it off that's the problem so in want to find my manageable weight not some arbitrary number worked from height. I am just heading to 1.5 stone off so it's 2 stone after that!
