New year - new me!

Hi. I need to make 2017 my year to get my health life back in to shape. I'm over weight, unfit and always have an excuse ready why I could not get a diet to work or why I did not go out to do some exercise.

All of the rest of my family are very active (both daughters compete at a sport at international level) which I love, but I'm always the one ferrying around, organising and shopping etc.

Any offers of moral support you can give, or indeed we can share would be fab.

Good luck. I'm a newbie here too. Together we Can do this :)

Welcome to the NHS weightloss forum.

Start by weighing yourself and doing all your measurements.

Then check out your BMI on the NHS calculator, this will give you your daily calorie allowance. You might want to download a fitness app to log them. Many people use My Fitness Pal, I personally use Lose it!. They're both free on the App Store.

Check out the welcome newbies thread in the pinned posts area - lots of useful info there.

Looking forward to seeing you around.

Good luck ☘

Hi there. How amazing to have international sporting daughters! I often wonder how come my son and daughter are so sporty when their parents are couch potatoes! I think they were cuckoos put itnto our nest!

Why not sign up for a fun run this year - haha, next year! and ask them to support you by training with you, or if that's not possible, maybe they could write a training programme for you. I'm sure if you tell them you want to get fit, they would love to help you.

Let us know what you decide. 🏃‍♀️

I'm a newbie on here too. 2016 saw me lose 3 stone and put 1 back on so 2017 needs to be the year it goes off and stays off. I started with walking then trying to add a jog to it. It's hard going tho when you've got people reliant on you. They say 80% is diet and 20% is exercise. I think most of it is a good support network tho so here if you need me 😊
