need to lose weight fast

HI I'm 23 I stood on the scales today and had a shock I weighed 15 and half stone. This is the heaviest I have ever been. I would like to lose 3 1/2 stone within the next year. I will admit I'm not every active and I need to correct this. I tried the couch to 5K last year but lost motivation quite quickly.

Hi, I know it's tempting to want to get weight off fast but my own experience of different ways to lose weight over the years is the faster it comes off the faster it goes back on. You're young and you have your whole life ahead of you. What you need to think about is changing your eating habits and lifestyle rather than think of quick fix diets where you might lose a few stone then get bored and put it back on. That said, your goal of 31/2 stone over the next year doesn't seem an unrealistic ambition if you re-think the way you eat and your lifestyle. I find the 5:2 is a good way to eat as for me it is something I can sustain. But you have to find what works for you as a way of eating in the longer term. The other must is exercise. I am a big advocate of some form of exercise for anyone that is physically capable. Find a way (or ways) of exercise you enjoy and stick to it. If you don't actually enjoy the exercise you won't stick to it. You will feel the benefits mentally and physically. I do do quite a lot of exercise - mainly racketball and a lot of (dog) walking but I recently got an activity tracker and find that motivates me to go that extra mile (literally). Hope this helps a bit and good luck!

hi. don't go down the quick fix ... Ive wasted most of my adult life Tring to lose weight and tried everything product that promised quick weight loss... and yes it works but isn't sustainable and normal life kicks back in and so do the pounds (& usually more).

Aiming for 1-2lbs a week is a great goal by healthy eating & upping your exercise.. this will help to ensure that it comes off and stays off ( I'm aiming for 7lbs a month but have 6-7 stone to lose)..

good luck with starting and I hope you achieve your goals x

Hi nugget414 , :-)

I will back up what others have said, the quicker you lose it, the quicker it will go back on. If you aim to lose 1-2lb a week, it is much more sustainable.

Have you seen the NHS BMI checker? I really recommend using that to get your calorie range, you might be pleasantly surprised by how many calories you can eat and still lose weight!

Stick to the lower calorie range recommended for you and I promise you will see results.

Wishing you all the best,

x
