Not counted calories yet, going to start new year. Not walked or exercised for a while. Did 14k steps on a very long and painfully slow walk. Very patient kids and hubby, feeling quiet proud of myself. Felt like I was going to keel over a few times, hopefully will get fitter over the months to come. Am ready for a new me.

Well done! That is a great start. You need a plan now to keep it up. I have found that aiming for 10k steps a day is too daunting a target. However, when I don't think about it, I get there most days. I never get the shopping delivered, I go to the supermarket and shop for it myself - good couple of thousand steps to do that. I get on and off the tube a stop or two earlier and later - another couple of thousand steps each day. I go for a 30 min walk at lunchtime - could be up to 5k steps depending on my pace. Before I know it, I've done it most days. I do a 5k walk at least one of the weekend days, if not both. Build walking into your day, you'll be surprised how quickly it builds up your stamina. That's fantastic, 14k is a lot of steps! You're right to be proud of yourself
