One month and doing well

I've been counting calories averaging 1200 a day. I have a fitbit which has been really useful. I've tried every diet possible and although they work, I always put weight back on. I need a lifestyle change and so am eating properly. Four weeks in, not weighing myself but can feel a difference in my clothes.

Good morning Bev

Well done and congratulations on your success! I'm on day 6 and I have to say I started this week feeling cynical, as I didn't believe I would get on with calorie counting as I was always hungry on a 1000 a day but actually 1400 is really manageable and typically this week I haven't actually used more than 1250 a day and haven't really felt like I'm on a diet although I've lost 6 lbs. 30 to go but I think I can do this even if it takes a few months. How much have you lost and how much to go?

morning Miranda, I must have lost around 10lb, but I'm not weighing in yet. I feel pressured by regular weighing in. You're doing well, keep going. I want to get to a healthier 11 stone, I must be around 14 at the moment. Christmas will be testing.

It's whatever works for you. I need the daily weigh-in at the moment but I might feel content with weekly once the pace of weightloss backs off which I know it will. planning my meals the night before seems to help. it's stopped me from thinking about food all the time as I'm not left wondering what I can have when I'm hungry and likely to go off the rails. Like the fitbit idea, didn't know what it was till I googled but it's given me a great pressie idea for my kids, thank you ;-) have a great day

I do a daily weigh I'm, which gives me an average, I find that fine, and ok, beats the weekly one.

Maybe a monthly weigh in?

Take one day at a Time..

The mountain may seem tall.. doesn't matter.. just focus on the next step and the next... and soon you will see the change..

When your attitude and approach and spirit changes... rest everything will follow...

Don't base your spirit on the weighing machine.

hi. I started this week on the diet and like you I've tried every diet going and have always lost weight ... got bored ... put it back on again and more... this time however i'm not weighing in all the time and just concentrating on how my clothes are feeling and it feels good doesn't it !..... well done so far on this diet and keep going as my gym instructor says it takes about 6 weeks or so for your body to get out of the shock that you mean business this time and starts to let go of those lbs... Have a lovely weekend x

my thoughts exactly, but you've gone one step further than me with the gym. Well done.

with me I just know if I exercise it keeps me more determined as there is no way I'm going to the gym on an evening and then coming home and eating rubbish.. last night I went swimming for 45mins... came home and had some beetroot crisps & a diet coke... Friday night and no wine & chocolate for me and it felt good !

Hi from one Bev to another after umpteen fad diets and clubs I have found this is the only thing that works for me, keeping on here absorbing information, inspiration and encouragement from others is massive in my journey and thank goodness I found the site, someone was looking after me that day.

Just over 6 months later I have lost 3st 3lb (17.1 starting weight) I am slow, about a pound a week now, sometimes even a maintain each week but I am getting there, I still have a way to go aiming at 4.5st first then I will see after that.

I think the key is to keep active on the forum, once or twice I have felt wobbly but just coming on here helps greatly. I have the odd treat no so healthy foods every now and again if I go out etc but it's all about balance and enjoying your life too. You can do this after all I am trying and if I can anyone can.

I weighed myself when I started but hubby wrote it down I didn't want to know so nearly 5 weeks later I stood on the scales for myself and even then it was a shock but knew because of how I then felt and clothes becoming looser that I could keep going. Now it's just every day as it comes Christmas will be testing but we can do this by helping each other.

Good Luck you are on the right path Bev 👍😊

you are doing so well. You say you are only losing one pound a week, but if you think of a pound of lard or sugar that's a good amount to lose each week.

Well done. I started calorie counting with my fitness pal and using the fitbit Alta on June 1st this year. I'm 2 and half stone down so far. I also don't eat any low fat diet products. Eat real fat just less of it. I hate to admit that after years of all sorts of diets, eating less and moving more is the answer. You don't realise how much calories is in stuff until you start looking.
