Restarting my weight loss

Hi all,

I've struggled with weight gain since 15years old when I was 18 1/2 stone. 10 years ago I lost lots of weight and ended up at 12 st. I've now put on this and more and feel so sluggish and uncomfortable. I've decided to start again. Struggling to know how to tackle this weight this time as did slimming world before but it doesn't work for me now!!

Hi Holliep,

Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. I hope you'll enjoy being part of this community, and that we can help support you on your weight loss journey. I'd recommend having a read of our Welcome Newbie post, it's in the Pinned posts area (right-hand-side of the homepage - or at the bottom of your screen if you're accessing via a mobile device).

Do join in with anything you like the look of in the forum, and maybe join us in the Monday group weigh-in, if you'd like to participate in a weekly weigh-in with a supportive group. You'd be very welcome, and the post is in the Events section - below the Pinned posts, and it's open till 18 00 on Friday for Late Weighers, or you could join next Monday - if you want to of course!

Wishing you a great week ahead. I'd recommend having a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as it's really good, and many of us follow its principles, to good effect.

Lowcal :-)

Hi Holliep,

I too recommend the NHS 12 week plan. I started it in June and have gone from 76 kg to 63 kg (just 1 tiny kg to go before I reach my goal of 62 kg. I know your journey is a bit longer, but the plan works.

About exercise, I would recommend that you start by just walking 🚶🍁. Pretend you have a dog 🐶 that needs walking every day and make it a priority to get out there every day, rain or shine 🌧🌤. Start with whatever is manageable for you. If you can walk briskly for 10 minutes, let that be your entry level, it will make a huge difference in your fitness level. Then slowly up the number of minutes that you walk and when you can walk briskly for 30 minutes, I suggest you give the NHS Couch to 5K programme a try. It is fantastic♥️🏃

See you around!
