Just starting

I decided to start my journey today after a week thinking if I will manage to go through the 12 weeks.

I am 83.54kg today and my ultimate goal is 62kg (to have a healthy BMI).

Until 7 years ago I was a very active person. I used to do gymnastic, 5/6 days a week, minimum 5hours a day. And I never imagined I could live without doing any kind of sports. Unfortunatly I had back problems and had to stop all activities since I could only stand for 10 minutes.

When I finally felt well enough to start exercising I couldn't find the motivation to do it.

And 7years passed by and here I am. Ready to start all over again.

Every kilo I lose will be a step closer to my goal 😄

Hi Ana,

I just started today too. I tend to think in lbs rather than kilo's so not sure how much that is but I wish you lots of success. I know how hard it is to get motivated to excersize. I love it when I do it but getting started is difficult. I used to get into my gym kit and that would often inspire me enough to do something because I might as well once I am dressed! I have bought some new leggings and trainers to help me get back into it! I'll let you know how that goes! How are you going to tackle the diet?

Take care

Rachel H

Thank you for your support!! I will try your advice.

Basically I need to lose 44lbs.

About the diet I will use the easy meals app and use only small plates for lunch and dinner. I have given up chocolate (one of the hardest things for me to do) and replaced it with grapes (two or three seem to help control my cravings). Another thing I am doing, an advice given by a physiotherapist 7 years ago, is whenever I fell hungry I drink water. If it doesn't help then I have an apple. All this has been helping me for the past 2days, but we will see if it is still working in a weeks time.

😄

Hi Ana,

Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. I hope you'll enjoy being part of this community, and that we can help support you on your weight loss journey. I'd recommend having a read of our Welcome Newbie post, it's in the Pinned posts area (right-hand-side of the homepage - or at the bottom of your screen if you're accessing via a mobile device).

Do join in with anything you like the look of in the forum, and maybe join us in the Monday group weigh-in, if you'd like to participate in a weekly weigh-in with a supportive group.

I'd recommend the NHS 12 week plan, as it's really good, and many of us follow its principles, to good effect. I started it in June and have gone from 76 kg to 63 kg - just 1 tiny kg to go before I reach my goal of 62 kg (just like you).

With regards to exercise... Have you considered learning to run? If you are secretly wanting to become a runner, have a look at the Couch to 5k forum and give the programme a try. I know it sounds crazy, but it can make virtually anyone run 30 minutes. When I started in March, I struggled to run for 30 seconds. Now I run 5-10 km 4 times a week simply because I love it.

See you around!

Thank you! That is really inspiring!!

I would love to joing the Mondays weigh-in groups.

About running I used to love it. That was all I did when we had a few minuted between classes. And I was doing it to help my best friend (she hated everything related to sports all because she had to run). But by the end of the school year she was able to keep up with me. I guess I will have to do the same for myself :-)

Thank you!!!!
