Since I lost two stones on slimming world and am into my last stone by calorie counting I'm finding I'm getting sugar crashes and cravings from carbs and some refined sugars, can this occur as you lose weight?

Hello PheonixJo 😊

Well done on losing two stone 😊 I don't know anything about your previous eating plan, but trying to reduce sugar can create cravings 😞 It does pass, and like all eating habits new ones can be learnt. Also this time of year makes a difference, it really isn't salad weather is it? My cravings are carbohydrates and they are especially difficult when it's cold and dark 😕

It also becomes more difficult to shift the pounds as we get nearer to goal. I think our bodies seem to cling to the fat!!

Good luck

Yeah, I try to keep mine low-ish 😕 Aim for 100g max of starchy foods (but can go up to 150g ) plus 2or 3 pieces fruit. 😊 Porridge for breakfast keeps me going, plus decent lunch of soup and wrap/pitta with salad and fruit. If I eat any less I get sugar low mid afternoon that has me reaching for the biscuit tin!! 😊

I try to think what would I prefer for the calories? If I still want something I like ginger nuts or a two finger kit Kat 😊 Not too scary

I did SW and because you're allowed unlimited carbohydrates via potato and pasta I suffered with headaches etc asI have found the amount of these I eat the biggest change since starting counting calories. also i dramatically dropped the amount of fruit I was eating and while these are natural sugars they must surely have an impact. I also stopped having muller light yoghurts which are full of sugar! lots of reasons why your body could be panicking and having sugar cravings :) I just sort of powered through it as your body will learn to adapt and when I couldn't I let myself have a dark chocolate covered rice cake and counted the calories :)

Hope this helps
