I have gained weight over the last year and have always been size 10/12. I am 74 years of age active and walk a lot with my dog. \i do not stuff my face with fatty foods, and do not eat sugar except in what I actually eat {fruit}. I have been to dr and had test for thyroid, but this came back clear. I just don't know what to do as the doctor says dont worry about it. I do worry as I am scared of diabetise etc. Has anyone else ever had this problem without actually doing things to gain weight.

Unexplained weight gain.
It may just be a case of portion distortion, you may be eating just a bit too much, there seems to be a fine line at times, between maintaining, losing or gaining weight.
Without knowing exactly what and how much you eat, and drink, and thyroid tests it's difficult to know, except hormones don't help
Hi Diana thanks for that. I have been through exactly what I eat during the day. Piece of toast for brekkie with banana. Lunch sometimes nothing, or a sarnie hovis wholemeal bread, with lettace and cucumber. Then about 6 after long walk with dog a jacket pot with omellete and small yoghurt. Bedtime decaff tea. Thats about all I intake all day. So I dont know where the weight is coming from.
I agree you may not be eating enough that was a good reference to check to chart and recipes. Sometimes we need to change up our eating pattern to shake up our systems. Stay within the caloric range and you'll be surprised how you feel and some weight might start dropping.
