Any tasty smoothie recipes out there?

I've recently become the proud owner of a nutribullet but after a bit of experimenting with their recipe book I feel that everything ultimately tastes of chlorophyll! If there are any smoothie enthusiasts amongst you I wondered if you might have a tried and tested recipe or three that you could pass on? I find that American recipes sometimes use ingredients that I don't have access to and, indeed, I really just want to use what is freely available in my local shops.

A note of warning though. I can't stand the taste of bananas, even after a lifetime of trying hard to like them, it's not going to happen.

Today I tried to make something resembling a cross between a Bloody Mary (sans alcohol) and a bowl of guacamole but the avocado overwhelmed everything else and it came out just like gloopy glue.

So, any good ideas will be very welcome and meanwhile I'll keep on experimenting with the assortment of fruit and veg in the bottom of the fridge!

Hi Nereid,

Have a look at some of the recipe collations in the pinned posts section and the Welcome Newbies thread! I'm sure there will be some recipes there!

Have a great afternoon,

Rob :D

Hi Nereid,

I hope you're enjoying using your new appliance. I've not tried this recipe yet, but I think it looks really nice and it contains quite a few nutrients:

Tofu & Raspberry Smoothie

400g/14oz silken tofu

25 raspberries

1 vanilla pod

a generous sprinkling of almond flakes

Whizz together the tofu and raspberries in a blender until smooth. Score the vanilla pod lengthways, scrape the tiny black seeds into the juice and stir well. Sprinkle over the almond flakes, and drink immediately.

I can't remember where I got this recipe from - I wrote it down on a piece of paper, so maybe it was in a magazine a few years ago! I meant to try it, but haven't got round to it yet.

It was claimed to be a drink to ease the nervous system, balance hormones and in doing so could make you feel more harmonious and less stressed! Sounds good to me, if it works! Let us know, if you decide to try it! :-)

Lowcal :-)

I like the idea of tofu. You could really put any fruits with that, I guess.

I reckon I have been using too many ingredients to start with and it might be a better strategy to begin with just a few like yours and just tweak the recipe slightly to see what works.

Anyway, thanks a bunch and I'll go and get tofu and raspberries tomorrow!

Great, I'll look forward to hearing how it goes. I've never tried tofu before, which is partly why I wrote the recipe down as I wanted to try it - but maybe if I hear how your experiment goes, then I will be tempted to try it out. I agree, you should be able to add different fruits to it. Hope it's nice! :-)
