Hi and welcome back I imagine you know what to do and where to look for info so I will just say hi and hope you manage to find your mojo on this new journey.👍

Like yourself ideally I would like to lose about 6st but I am aiming for 4.5st first.

I can see you say you keep eating, have you been to see your GP to see if there is a medical reason for this? Some people don't have the"I'm full" part of their brain working correctly so continue eating.

If you get a pedometer or fitness tracker just by doing a few extra steps per day will help also making it a competition with yourself maybe start at trying for 200 steps more on day 1 and increasing on day 2,3 etc.

I find trying to watch as many weight loss programs as I can and indeed the programme about type 2 diabetes the other night was so informative and gave good tips on what foods help to reduce your chance of getting type 2.

Keep active on the forum, print off week 1 of the plan, let your family know what you are doing so they can help you and drink plenty of water also try to up the exercise a little even extra housework helps.

Best wishes keep us posted how you are doing. 😊 Bev

mandyflatt . No matter how many times you come back to this forum, there is always a warm welcome 😊

Getting started is tricky, then keeping it going is tricky, but the most important part is wanting to do it and that's why you are here so well done.

I am just wondering whether or not you can't join your family on walks, or whether you think you can't. The only reason I ask, is that at just over 17 stone, I decided things needed to change and started the C25k program. I was so unfit, it nearly killed me, but I really wanted to do it. It took me way longer than 9 weeks as I was in a place of terrible unfitness, but this morning I've just been out for a 30 min run and I'd say at least 75% of that was mental not physical challenge.

I am still 16 stone, my weight loss has been slow ( though my body shape is changing - I've dropped 10 inches from my body), but I feel stronger and more determined.

I was amazed at how many calories I could consume and still lose weight ( check the NHS website for your figures) and am finally comfortable with losing weight slowly. When I joined Slimming World - I craved 7 pound losses but soon realised that losing 7 pounds was not healthy and certainly not maintainable. Like the running, weight loss is also down to a mental attitude ( one I struggle more with than the running might I add!)

There are so many opportunities for self-sabotage with food, so a positive mindset needs to be first on the list.

Good luck, make small changes. As Itsbab says, a pedometer is addictive! Set yourself off on family walks, you may not complete, but will feel better for setting off. An extra few steps a day will make all of the difference ☺️

Get a member of your family on board to agree to walk more slowly with you on their walks, or agree just to go on a shorter walk than they would normally go on. My husband is intensely annoying when we go out for walks because as a person who used to climb lots of hills for fun, he is always way ahead like a greyhound out of a trap. I walk well myself, but obviously not fast enough for his liking. I have to get him to slow down a bit.

It is well worth the effort, because you will feel such a sense of achievement after the walk, and less hungry. I always feel tired after a walk, not hungry but thirsty and next day I feel brighter as a result.

Do try - as there's lots to see on a decent walk, as well as obvious health benefits which I am sure your family will love to see too.

Can you find someone with a dog. My sister and I had great fun over the summer walking her toy poodle. Because the dog was always stopping for a sniff around the pace was quite slow and when I felt I'd done enough I just got on a bus.
