Hi Everyone

I've just signed up and i'm looking forward to meeting you all. I am sadly obese again after a wonderful year of being a comfortable size 14. I lost over 20kg with Slimming World and felt just great. Then I moved far away from the nearest group and gradually over the last 2 years I've put 15 kg back on. In the last few weeks I've eaten more than my bodyweight in chocolate - Maltesers are my downfall!

I decided on Friday that I am going sugar-free again to kickstart my weight loss - 5 days so far :-)

I am the kind of person that needs support and encouragement from others and I like to reciprocate so I'm looking forward to both from this forum.

Best wishes to you all.

  • I find the trick can be not willpower in eating the Maltesers but willpower when shopping. Sometimes it is good to shop online so that the temptation is not there, other times, make sure, if you have to have them, that you choose the smallest bag as you know you will eat all of them. Never never shop hungry even if it means taking and eating your lunch very early, if you take a lunch break walk as much as you can, even just around the shops is better than sitting in a chair, and you will find it easier not to succumb if you are not hungry. Again, and we all say this, if you need to eat something do it, and get straight back on track. Don't let it be your excuse to stop. You have done it before at Slimming World, so you must have great strength and resilience, keep that positive thought formost in your mind.

  • How true !! Just seen your post, after I did mine about shopping.

  • Hi Ummpeter and Welcome!

I remember seeing a show on TV saying that diet clubs were successful until people stopped going, so I would think you're in good company! I don't know what it is about being together (even virtually! ;) ) that helps keep humans on the straight and narrow, but it really seems to work. At least it's doing me a load of good. Not to say that I don't have wobbly days, but this is where I get the support I need to get back on the wagon and carry on. :)

    Good luck! :D

  • I'm trying to have less sugar. It does work, but it's not easy. Just got home from shopping and couldn't stop noticing the cakes and chocolate everywhere in the supermarket. Luckily I didn't succumb but mentioned it to my husband in a woeful voice, and he helpfully bought me a sandwich when he got petrol which was sweet of him.

  • Lovely to hear from you all. I have a feeling you are going to be the support I need ๐Ÿ˜˜

  • Hi Ummpeter,

Welcome to the forum, and I'd like to wish you success with your goal to go sugar-free - hopefully you'll find your taste buds adapt and you'll really enjoy your food more!

Hope you are finding your way around the forum ok - the Pinned posts are helpful, especially the Welcome Newbie post - so do have a look at that.

Maybe join our Monday group weigh-in if you'd like to join us for a weekly weigh-in. It's very supportive and encouraging.

Wishing you a great week ahead.

    Lowcal :-)

  • Welcome Ummpeter, the beauty of being on here is help is at hand just when you need it. There is always someone willing to offer support and motivation. Lots of hints and tips and most of all friendly banter.

Insussessfully reached my target on here earlier this year. Due to work etc I wasn't able to contribute much but stayed in the background which kept me focused. Work is easing now for the winter so I'm back among you all. I've even set myself a new target ๐Ÿ˜œ

Good luck on your weight loss journey. It won't always be easy but on here, it'll always be fun xx

  • I know the feeling of losing and then gaining, but have now successfully lost most of it again. I just got out my clothes from the loft that I had "outgrown" ...they mostly now fit me, but are looking a little dated as that was over 10 years ago! Charity shops...here I come!

  • Hello ummpeter. Are you using the NHS 12 week challenge. I found the first 10 weeks hard and by the end of the 12 weeks it did feel like my habits and taste buds had changed. I started again and am in week5 of the reboot. It is much easier not so many cravings .

  • Hi. Good luck. I also just joined tonite. Going start tomorrow.. I want to lose 5 stone. I'm hoping this week all help me.. X
