Any advice....Need to be sure Im doing it right

Hi,

I started my weight loss journey yesterday. I doing ok up to now. Im just a bit unsure about how many calories I can have in a day. I have been on the BMI healthy weight calculator and it says I can have between 1513-1945 calories. Is that figure to maintain weight or lose weight? I want to lose 1-2 lbs a week if possible and I have 3 stone to lose. I just don't want to eat too much and fail after the first week!

Please advise........:-/

If you stick to the lower end you should lose weight, there is a bit of trial an error involved at first to see what suits you. If it were me I'd aim for no more than 1600 daily and see how you do. Good luck!

Great minds think alike ☺

Hi Angela

I have stuck to the lower end of the calories advised. To be honest I have struggled to use them up on a daily basis.

If you record them everyday on the lower level and you do go slightly over your still in range. Hope that makes sense. Really the choice is yours.

I use Nutracheck to count my intake and use a fit bit to track my steps.

You will find we all do something slightly different. ☺

Good luck 😀

Thank you for your replies.

Trulyplumptious, Im using fitness pal. Is nutracheck the same or better?

I only walk as exercise and use a vibration plate as often as I can. Im not much of a 'gym' girl.

Hi

I think it's down to personal choice. I didn't get on with MFP but there others who swear by it.

Trial it and see which you prefer. I like the pictures makes imputing quick and easy. It takes off what you have imputed so you know what you have left.

It also links to my fit bit steps etc.

Hope that helps.☺

Sorry Angela missed the last bit -no I have never been to a gym in my entire life and not going to strt now.

Just walking and fitness bands for me. ☺

I like the MFP app, but I don't think it matters what you use, as long as you use it. I am sometimes tempted to not record a naughty calorie, but I do. If I cheat, I am only cheating myself.

Walking is great exercise! If you want to add some cardio to it try Leslie Sansones 1 mile walk and 1 mile happy walk, they are really good and free to watch on you tube.

I would start somewhere in the middle, calorie wise, 1700-1800, and see how it goes 😊 If you can lose weight eating more that's good surely? I also eat a little less through the week and 'save' up for weekends 😊

Good luck 😊
