Hello everyone :)

Does anyone know if light soy milk is a better option than skimmed milk for weight loss? I like both but I was wondering which one is a better option.

Milk is a good source of calcium, semi skimmed has more goodness and will keep you feeler for longer, not sure as to the answer to your question tho

Hmm, interesting question. I would have to hit google to find out the answer, but soya products are pretty nutritious. Whether they are lower in calories I couldn't say. Skimmed milk is so low it would be hard to get lower cal. Maybe I will have a quick look on google...

It looks like skimmed milk is 37cals per 100mls, but according to the nhs calorie checker Alpro soya light uht milk is only 26cals per 100 mls. Otherwise it's nutritionally pretty similar to milk. Hope that helps!

Thank you Ruby8! I read somewhere that milk in general is not good for people (no idea if it's true or not) and I wanted to try to replace it with soya instead.

Sometimes I really think that they'd have you believe that eating isn't good for you! :O

I think last weeks "eat well for less" covered this subject really well, might be worth looking at catch up tv. As I recall, they suggest milk all the way, unless you are lactose intolerant

I don't think cow's milk is bad for you at all, it is a source of animal fat rather than plant based like soya, but it's full of nutrients...here is a link to a BBC article about different kinds of milk.
