Just Saying Hi

I'm Deb, a 32 year old mum to one and a wife to a sci-fi nerd.

I'm here because I need to lose weight for fertility reasons (dr's orders!) and I have failed time and time again to lose weight on my own so I'm hoping that I'll be motivated by your posts, successes and suggestions as I also really do want to lose weight to be a happier, healthier and more confident person.

So I'm weighing in at 236.2lbs and after using the NHS BMI calculator I'm aiming for a total loss of 100lbs as that sticks me in the middle of where it says I should be. I've taken my measurements, set up a calorie counting spreadsheet and I've set mini goals for myself so I feel like I'm good to go.

I'm looking forward to being a part of your community :)

Hi Deb,

Welcome! I'm glad you've already joined us for the Monday group weigh-in, and I hope you have a really great week. You're all prepared with your spreadsheet etc, very impressive. Good luck!

Hello and welcome 😊 I am also married to a sci-fi nerd but they do come in useful sometimes!!! Lol 😂

Good luck in your weight loss journey. If you get chance have a look at moreless inspirational post about her journey over the last year 😊

Thanks very much :) I've been having a browse around and I have had a look through some of moreless' posts (loving the poem!) but will need to catch up properly later on. It's amazing to see so many people being there for each other, I wish I'd have found this site earlier!

Good luck, you can do it! I was in a similar position about 6 years ago.. Had to get my BMI under 30 for fertility treatment and it was a great motivator for me. I lost over 2 stone and had a wonderful baby boy via IVF who is 5 years old now 😄. Wishing you all the best for your journey...

Thanks and congratulations on your weight loss and your little boy! I found it to be a massive motivator at the start but then the specialist I was sent to was really negative and she knocked my confidence loads but I'm here and starting again :) All the best to you too!

Aw don't let them knock you down! My chances were slim with my weight and age but we got there!! Unfortunately I put all the weight back on trying for baby no 2 naturally again and off my meds and taking steroids (only pain relief I could have). We couldn't afford more IVF and I was becoming depressed from all the pain and disability I was experiencing and comfort eating, so I eventually stopped trying, gave up my IT job I had and took on something different to change my focus... went to Uni instead to study for a degree. Now I'm back on my meds feeling better and on the weight loss journey but for just me this time. Keep going it is a roller coaster on your emotions but it helps to share if you ever want to say hi feel free....

I've often thought about going back to get some more qualifications but I've always been nervous to do it and I don't think I know exactly what I want from it either.

I've clicked to follow you (hope you don't mind!) so will be sure to pop up and say hi every now and again :)

To be honest I didn't either and still don't! I just knew I needed another direction. I've always loved sport but can't always commit to that now with my RA so I chose my next favourite subject of nutrition. But if I can't sort myself out how can I expect to help others! So I have two years to really try to sort my weight once and for all... No pressure right Lol.

Great, keep in touch we can help each other through our journeys 😄
