Hi all

Im new to the forum, not sure what im doing lol but need to lose weight and keep it off and I need as much help as i can get, Tried for years, I can lose weight, but i cant keep it off! I suffer depression and have an auto immune "thing" going on (still under investigation!!) I have painful joints, metatarsalgia, mortons neuroma, asthma and thats just for starters. Of course its all down to my weight so im now hoping to lose weight and see what happens, hopefully the aches and pains and fatigue will go away(im not convinced)

Hope to find support and motivation here if possible as i cant do this on my own!

Heya. Its great you are able to lose weight, thats most of the battle. I think following the NHS 12 week plan instead of a diet shoukd make it easier for you to keep the weight off, as its about developing lifelong habits, not going on a temporary diet. You may be able to identify where you went wrong aswell, like portion size or whatever.

Wishing you lots of success.

Hi and welcome Poledra 13 :)

Take a look at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread, it has a link to the NHS 12 week plan, which is a guide to healthy living, rather that a specific diet plan.

Consider joining any, or all, of our challenges, as they're fun and motivating.

Join us for the monday group weigh-in, which I shall be posting today, but which Zest will be posting in future. The latest thread can always be found in the events section, to the right of the home page.

Wishing you all the very best :)

You are not on your own.

Take one day at a time and plan and log what you are going to eat each day. I use the myfitnesspal ap which is free and does all the calculating work for you.

If you are able to exercise a bit that might also help to alleviate a little of the depression (the couch25k programme is worth considering - or anything in fact to keep moving).

All the best! 🌻

Hi Poledra

Welcome and good luck with your journey. A couple of suggestions for you, I have found a step counter to be really helpful, the suggested steps per day is 10,000 which as I work in a office full time isnt easy so I aim to do as many as I can and keep a note so that I am challenging myself to increase and getting closer to that. Drink lots of water, especially before a meal, hydration is great for keeping you fuller but also good for the skin and joints. I suffer with Crohns which makes my joints ache but somebody suggested talking a vitamin D supplement and it does appear to be helping so might be worth checking with your doctor. The very best of luck :)
