Hi new here

Hello everyone, I have just joined and hope to get plenty of encouragement because I will need it😃

Firstly I have health problems that has contributed to weight gain, plus age, plus lack of excercise plus too much cake and chocolate😱

I know I need to address this and my wish is to initially get down one dress size and keep it that way.

So any help, recipes or friendly words will be appreciated.

Thanks for reading

Start with the 12 week plan (on the nhs website) also use the bmi checker to tell you how many calories you need. I find a calorie counting app (myfitnesspal) really helps too. Loads of support here for you x x x good luck

I can empathise with the cake and chocolate problem, those being two of my worst temptations! I haven't totally cut them out, but am trying to minimise the quantities - two chocolate squares rather than a whole bar, cake only once or twice a week, one slice only and freeze down any left overs!

I have improved my health since January when I was on daily painkillers for my knees, I have lost just under 3 stones and feel so much better. It is so worth doing - just keep count of the calories in your daily food and drink (there are apps and online programs to help you do that) and keep to 1400 - 1500 daily.

As far as exercise goes, and it is difficult when you have health limitations - just move as much as your daily activities allow; I try and use the stairs more, I walk the dogs more frequently; you might find you can do some isometrics (pushing against a wall or using a rubber exercise band) or can you go swimming perhaps?

Good luck - you will soon feel the benefits!

Hello Lottie. Your not alone, know exactly how you feel :) we are on the right path being here I feel.

Just keep your goals real (acheivable) and look at it as a lifestyle change and not a diet!!! good luck.

I have an acronym i use when setting goals,..S.M.A.R.T

S... small

A...achievable to you

Seem to be in the same situation as you Lottie Just joined myself. Good. Luck

Hi and welcome Lottie :)

Take a look at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread, it has a link to the NHS 12 week plan, which is a guide to healthy living, rather that a specific diet plan.

Consider joining any, or all, of our challenges, as they're fun and motivating.

Join us for the monday group weigh-in, which I have posted today, but which Zest l will be posting in future. The latest thread can always be found in the events section, to the right of the home page.

Be active on the forum, as that's where we make friends and get our daily fix of inspiration and motivation :)

Wishing you all the very best :)
