Starting out...today!

Hi all,

Been on a diet since I was 20! Now at 43, not much has changed, still need to work on motivation, perseverance!

Trying to enlist my partner into the NHS diet, so fingers crossed, will get a headstart.

Im the same, been on tonnes of different diets, but motivation and discipline a problem. Ive found though im having more success lately because of these things-

-thinking of the nhs plan as a permanent lifestyle change not a temp diet. Only attempt realistic lifestyle changes. Your body is a reflection of your lifestyle.

-taking supplements has helped my hypoglycemia problems

-working out what situations tend to lead to overeating in my case (by keeping a diary) and trying my best to avoid those situations eg. Exhaustion, low mood, access to junk food in the house

Wishing you lots of success. Slow and steady, you can do it.

X

Here's to a successful lifestyle change!

You will get an official welcome soon from the moderator lowcal or moreless. you can also Join in the weigh-ins on Monday as they are good for a weekly target and also inspiring for all the stories.

Make small, achievable changes to your food and be really strict counting the calories (the myfitnesspal ap or something similar can help make that bit easier).

Good luck!

Start with week 1. Follow what it says and then look at week 2 when you have done week 1. This way you are not trying to absorb so much information but building up a new way of living. There is so much on here to help you with calorie counting, recipes, exercise and others that are following this programme. Enjoy and good luck x

Hi and welcome to this lovely forum without the people's posts which I read daily and their words of encouragement I don't think I would have got this far.

I am on week 14 re booting as I have a lot to loose all I can say is the 12 week plan works, I don't know how, maybe it is the set time it takes to re educate your mind into eating good foods etc all I know is how I think differently now, say no to foods I throughout my life just shoved in my mouth hungry or not without thinking. I am doing more exercise and thinking of starting new exercise programmes which I would never have done before. It is as if I have finally after all these years got my brain on the correct path a path to a healthier, slimmer and fitter me and if i can manage it after all these years anyone can.

My husband doesn't need to loose weight but I have noticed how he is unconsciously changing his eating habits by just watching my efforts, he now has breakfast which he never did before, he has started eating salads for lunch and doesn't hit the biscuits all the time like he used to.

If your partner isn't overweight too much just ask them for their support and I think you will notice how they start to alter their food intake just by watching you.

Good luck for your new weight loss adventure Bev 😊👍

Don’t wait on anyone else, I find that it gives me an excuse to fail. Do it for you, don’t give anyone the power
