In need of a bit of a pick me up tonight..

Hi everyone, I think I'm in need of a bit of a booster tonight.

Due to go to Thorpe Park tomorrow with a group of friends, and although I am excited to go (I know it sounds childish), my weight is bringing my mood down!

The reason being is, all 4 of the people I am going with are tiny and skinny. I am literally the tall, fat one of the group...

I can't wear shorts like they all are - and I know the temp is supposed to reach like 24 tomorrow at one point - because my legs are too big and rub together, so they get really sore, not helped by heat. So I already feel so out of place.

If I'm being totally honest, this is the main reason I want to lose weight - so I can't be seen as the larger one of the group. Get that feeling that whenever you go out, people are thinking exactly that. Or guys would rather approach them, because they're all petite and slim - which in all honesty, is what happens... Kinda feels like the only thing I get out of my weight, is my boobs.

I 100% know I shouldn't think like that etc etc. I have said this to them before - and I know everyone has their own insecurities - but they're always like, you're not big, but I don't really think they know how it feels to be honest... They've always been the way they are and me the same.

I am not fat. But when you're like a size 18 and the biggest person in the group wears like a size 10/12, makes you feel a bit s**t and self conscious the whole time you're out with them. We had a picture taken once on holiday at a water park (with just 2 of them), all the breathing in did not make the picture any better, I was literally both of them combined! I looked absolutely awful and even bigger than usual standing next to those two!

I know I'm the only one who can do anything about it (resisting comfort eating rn!) But as much as I would give anything for, I know it won't happen overnight... Which sucks...

Ugh, vent over... Hope everyone is getting on well with their plans and weightloss!!

Love it's not what you look like its what person you are inside and you seem like a really nice person, yes it's nice to be slim we all would but hey you are doing it now and it will happen , don't worry what you look like just go and have fun life is to short to worry , you can get very thin leggings noŵ from primark so yr legs won't get sore and they are only £7.00 cotton ones to so cool for this weather.

There are worse people out there than you and as you said you are not fat so why are you worrying, have fun tomorrow and relax , your on the right track now.

Have a lovely day I bet you have a really good time xx

I m sorry that you are feeling down when really you should be excited. The problem is that once we get these insecurities in our heads they are very difficult to shift. You know there will be girls who envy your curves and wish that they had more of a figure. Don't t worry about the shorts, a lot of people are self conscious wearing them. Have you tried three quarter cotton trousers, keep you cool, no chaffing and you will tan your calves. I have three pairs!! Enjoy your day tomorrow and go on the log flume to cool down xx

It's always good to vent fP and I hope its made you feel a bit better :)

I suspect we've all felt like you do now and all the sensible things seem to drop right out of our left ear, leaving all the negative thoughts and feelings behind.

I've recently returned from visiting my extended family, 6 stone lighter than when I last saw them. Most of them didn't bat an eyelid, or comment on my weight loss and I suspect that's because my size and shape are immaterial to them and I'm just me! That will be how your friends view you too, you're just you and your size and shape have no bearing on the inner you.

We're always our own worst critics and harder on ourselves than we would ever be of others. Give yourself a break and concentrate on your good bits, like your awesome boobs, which I'm sure your friends are dead envious of and which will bring the guys eyes out on stalks! ;)

Get yourself some cropped trews/leggings, which are cool and comfortable and show off those long legs, which shorty shanks are always wishing they had :)

Have yourself a fabulous day at Thorpe Park and celebrate the you now, because you're as gorgeous as everybody else and just as deserving :)

Hi, your friends obviously love you, they like you around, they like your personality and your company, they want you to be there, enjoying stuff with them....you need to love yourself more. Don't stress, go and enjoy yourself, have. great day, make lovely memories. You want to lose some weight, every one on here does, it will happen, slowly but surely, but don't wait for that to happen until you can enjoy life! Have a great day!

Hi! when I was younger I used to go out with my friends both size 10 and a lot smaller than I was I always felt the fat one but since I have got older one friend I have remained friends with has said how she always envied my confidence and thought I had lovely hair she was always jealous of. I might add I met my husband whilst out with one of them and in his words men don't always want the thin friend but a curvy figure and personality that is nice which you seem to have from your writing.

You are making the first best start starting the new food journey and meeting lots of new friends on here some of who have already given you good advice. Deep down I guarantee your friends like and care for you, may even be jealous of some of your attributes as you are them ( the grass is always greener the other side of the field).

I have been on my journey food wise 11 weeks and at last weigh in was still 15.7 but I went out last week for the first time in loose top ( no cardi) and 3/4 trousers and the world didn't end, no one broke out in fits of laughter and I felt cool and happy. Enjoy your day, keep on your journey you will soon feel lighter, fitter and healthier. By the way I am jealous you are tall as my husband tells me I am a short midget. Hope you have a fab time and make memories to last a lifetime. Best wishes Bev

Thank you for all your responses!!

Well, it was a good day - I was the only one in leggings though, which was a bit out of place. But on the flip side, I didn't have to worry about thighs rubbing, didn't worry about getting stuck to seats and I was completely dry come home time, whilst everyone else's denim shorts were still damp!

We're going again next month - so I am hoping I can fit in to my size 16 shorts I have! And have the option, rather than the need to wear leggings!

Glad you had a good day FP and it sounds to me as if leggings are preferable to shorts, whatever size you are! :)
