WHY!!!! Am I still a size 18 when I have lost 15 lbs. Could it be I have lost it in other places or has my muffin top deflated. Leaving me with a waist. Admittedly my muffin top has gone but I am still a size 18. It is a wee bit disappointing. šŸ˜¢

It can take a loss anywhere between 1 - 2 stone (I've heard of people having to lose even more) before going down a dress size. Plus it's difficult to control where you lose the weight.

You've lost so much weight already and I bet you look LOADS better in your clothes now. Try to see this in all the positives you're seeing. I know, it's frustrating but carry on and you will drop a dress size. :)

Many thanks Sazkia. It is so frustrating. I really must try and get rid of this weight. I should not become too complacent when healthy eating by eating the wrong things. This week should be better.I have a skirt which is a size 14. I wore it 25 years ago!!!! It is my guide to being slimmer. I can get it over my hips but it is 6 inches to small on my waist. šŸ˜•.

In those days size 14 was made for a 26 inch waist! I know as I have a M& S skirt which shows this.. ok a bit older than 25 years perhaps! Don't know why I still have it... possibly museum piece or just to remind me that I did have a 26 inch waist !!

Just checked Yatsura. My skirt is a size 14 from next. A black pencil skirt, with a side split....hopefully one day I will get it on. Even if I do not go out in it. šŸ˜†

I didn't drop a dress size until I had lost almost 2 stone. But I think I was probably in denial as to what size I really was and only wore loose or stretch styles when I should have been in clothes one or more sizes larger!

in reply to MW50

I will not be too negative as an attitude like mine at the moment does not help. Good Luck for this coming week MW50

I think that clothes vary depending on where you buy them. I couldn't t wear a size 20 at one shop the other day and yet can wear a 16 in others. I think it depends on the shop and the style. I bet you look amazing in your clothes now due to your weight loss. Xx

I certainly feel better. So much so I feel I could run at times.

Hi, I've lost a stone and haven't gone done a size either, but my clothes fit me loads better, some had got tight and uncomfortable and I didn't wear them anymore, I'm sure yours feel better too? It's almost like having some new clothes being able to fit into those that have been stashed away in the wardrobe for ages! Try not to be too impatient, did you take your measurements when you started, I bet you've lost some inches.

in reply to Caz28

I did not this time caz28,but should for this next stone

Clothes sizes vary so much. I've lost 3 stone and have gone down 2 dress sizes - but not always, sometimes it's only one. Then I dug out a blouse recently which is 4 sizes smaller than I used to be and it fits perfectly! Very strange (probably had the wrong label put on it in the first place). The main thing is to feel better and fitter.

You will get there! I had to lose over 2 stone before I dropped a size. Its hard going but so rewarding when you do put smaller clothes on! I was a 20-22 when I started. Now I see my pair of size 12 jeans hanging on the line and wonder who they belong to šŸ˜‚

I lost 20kgs and haven't shifted a dress size.

The other, more demoralising, thing is that I have reasonably well maintained the loss for some years but people who don't see me a lot (but who have seen me a fair number of times) exclaim about how much weight I have lost recently. My husband says they have a fixed mental image of me as bigger and I think he is right. Better than the other way round I guess, in terms of my health anyway.

One thing I did do was get measured for new bras at the beginning and the size was much bigger than I expected but made me look much better in clothes without losing anything. My bra band size *has* reduced quite a bit.

I am still working on my weight as I carry excess round my middle.

in reply to GoogleMe

One thing I can say is I look more of an hour glass shape rather than a pear/apple shape. My bust is 'normal' in proportion to my body. I will not complain if it deflates a bit. It is my stomach that has went down but not enough yet for my liking. šŸ˜†

I'm sure you clothes fit much better and that you look amazing. I have not dropped a size but I feel so much better not having a muffin top to disguise!

in reply to wa2un7

Dress sizes are soooo unpredictable!! I have trousers in size 12 (stretchy) 14 not so stretchy, and tops all the way from 14 to size 20!!! Overall I am calling myself a 14/16 šŸ˜Š Big improvement from 20/22 . . . And a shoe size smaller??!! Who would have guessed it?? Lol šŸ˜‚

My mum who is no longer with us said her feet had got smaller when she lost weight. Very strange. I lost 3.5 stone years ago. My brother in law looked at me and said ' Have you lost weight, and I stood up proudly and said yes'. He then said you see it in your face. You could imagine how I felt then. Plus there were a few choice words. šŸ˜‚

It will happen, i promise. Just don't, don't, don't give up. A couple of years i was in the same boat. I had lost close to 20 lbs and i was not seeing the difference, my clothes were not fitting better and nobody was commenting on my weight loss. One day i tried an old dress and i couldn't pull it up so i threw a huge teary tantrum in front of my husband saying it is all pointless, i hate myself ...the works. After that i lose of couple of lbs more and voila, the dress fit. I have no idea why 2 lbs should have made such a difference but there it was. The body sometimes behaves in crazy ways. Then i saw a few people whom i hadnt met in 8 months and they all commented that i have lose weight. I think for people seeing us everyday its very hard to notice differences as it is so gradual. Please dont let all this demotivate you. It will definetely happen, i promise. I gave up on my exercise etc due to endo pain and gained the weight back, and now i wish so badly that i hadn't. I wish i had somehow persisted. Its so hard to get back on track once you give up. Have a positive attitude, it will happen and you will thank yourself down the line.

in reply to Poorna66

Thank You for your positive comment. My colleagues at work have not commented on my weight loss. I have one colleague that notices EVERYTHING!!! I.ll see her on Monday night so it will be interesting. If she does not comment I will not be disheartened. I will keep going as you say and I will get on my size 14, 25year old skirt on even if I do not wear it out!! ā˜ŗ

Sometimes people don't comment because of different reasons....maybe they are too wrapped up in their own problems to notice, maybe they see you everyday so they don't notice, maybe they are jealous, maybe they are insecure about their own bodies....it could be anything. So unless you have lost like 150 lbs making it virtually impossible for someone not to comment, I'd really not bother about comments much. You know you have lost weight, you don't need someone else to tell you that. Keep going and good luck. I am just starting on my weight loss journey and I'd be sooo happy the day I can come here and say I've lost 15 lbs :)

what about measuring yourself? and also think that fat not only is under the skin but within organs. You could have reduce the fat that surrounds your heart, liver etc. 15lbs lost is a fantastic number. Try to think about the so called "non weight" successes :)

in reply to MariaWeightlossNHS

Very true about the fat surrounding organs. My dear mum, struggled with her weight. Causing numerous health problems. I myself do not want to go down that road. If I can help it. At the moment I am reasonably healthy and I can walk up a hill if need be or for exercise. SO! I should be thankful. šŸ˜†

It is really annoying when the weight doesn't come off where you want it to! On the other hand, I'm also just happy when the scale shows a loss! Clothes sizes can be a real pain, but the feeling of not busting out of my clothes was great, even when I couldn't get down a size. I guess it's about trying to hold on to the positives to keep motivated rather than focus on the negatives.

Saying that, sometimes that's easier said than done.....

Hang in there, we'll get there. One step at a time. :)

in reply to VickyDLM

I tried on a pair of size 18 M and Co jeans yesterday. I know I am over critical of myself. I could see one thigh looked bigger than the other!!! On a more positive note, I took a photo of the label. I will use that as a guide to my next half stone/ stone award. I also got the zip up with no muffin top. So that is a positive thoughts.

It might not be your case but when we are fat we tend to buy tighter clothes. This is kind of trick for our mind to believe that we are smallere. You still size 20 but your jeans or shirts fit properly right now and you don't feel any contrains anymore.
