Hi all,

I have been on a low carb diet for 4 months and have lost a stone in weight.

However the weight loss has stopped over the last month.

Should I change diet ?

I have tried uping my carbs abit but then I just put on weight

Id recommend the NHS 12 week program. ive tried every diet and they work for the first few months and then stop. Ive been following the NHS one (basically calorie counting) for nearly 4 months and the weight loss is still going!

I agree with crazy kitten - calorie counting is the way to go.

Upping veg and water intake and adding more exercise are also great ways.

It is not as bad as it sounds - I use MyFitnessPal like crazykitten and it works well for me.

You are probably right. Does calorie counting get easy?

in reply to AJC1957

I use an app on my phone called my fitness pal, it scans labels, to work out calories so makes it a little easier, or you can just search by name . (Sometimes you have to check they are right)

Now i've been calorie counting for 4 months, it has remembered most of the foods i eat, so it doesn't take to long. It was a bit of a palaver for the first few weeks weighing everything and adding it to the log, but as i could see the results I didn't really mind.

Depending on your size, height, weight you will be allowed a certain amount of calories. I used calculator.net/calorie-calc... to work out mine.

I like it as i don't have to rule out anything completely, i can have whatever i like as long as I stay within the limit.. Friday nights I still have dominoes pizza!!

A few of the big chain restaurants even have their calorie count available on their websites, so its not to bad eating out, or I estimate.

I have also found that calorie counting and weighing everything, has helped to see where I was going wrong. For instance by small snack of two slices of toast with butter was actually nearly 500 calories because of the amount of butter i was loading on!! I now use Danish bread and lurpack lightest, now less than 200 calories!

Good luck, I hope you have success :)

How close are you from your weight goal, that tends to slow things down, also what about exercise, have you changed your routine lately? Exercise will affect weight loss

I am only a 3rd of the way to my goal.

I have continued to up my exercise, drink between 3-4 pints of water a dat

The body gets used to a certain diet and tries to prevent itself from starvation by hanging on to every lb....you could try to change your pattern of eating for a while to get things going again; maybe eating a wider variety of foods in several small meals; keep a count of the calories as suggested above, and fill up on fruit teas and water before and between meals.

Also, add a different form of exercise (swimming, tennis, gardening)?, and even consider doing something exciting to get the adrenalin going (riding, climbing, cycling)? That might shock your system out of its complacency!

Hi all,

Have changed my diet following all the lovely advice I have received + some research.

I cant eat bread but have swapped rice cakes for ryvetta which contains a lot more fibre.

I weigh protein and keep to the NHS recommended daily amount

added an extra portion of fruit per day and have lost 2kg in 8 days

Thanks to you all

That's great to hear AJC1957 😊

If you dislike counting actual calories you could count 'portions' 😊 (Such as the British heart Foundation plan)

Well done and good luck 😊

I started using the diet tea to lose weight right after when I saw an article(natures-slimtea.com.au/weig... ) on the health benefits of using diet tea to lose weight and decided to give it a go. I started at 241 and now I weigh 170 pounds. There are also many asian teas for weight loss. Just take a look at it... pinewoodhealth.ca/blog/gene...
