Hello people,

I'm new here and I am at my wits end with regard to losing weight. I have tried slimming clubs, pills (was allergic to them), meal plans etc and I am so deflated.

I try to eat well and I exercise at least half an hour a day but I'm just not losing anything! I have had a blood test recently and everything is fine there but I'm still roaming around 21 and a half stone, and I'm only 33!

I hope this forum can help and any little tips would be greatly received.

Oh, and congratulations to everyone here who has done well on the plan, and keep going to the ones who haven't done so well, you can do it! 😁

Hi Ickleboo and welcome to this wonderful and supportive group of people. A lot of us are using the NHS 12 week plan to stay on track. The beauty of this approach is that we are all in the same boat and want the same goal which is a long term healthy eating habit. Someone will always be there for you if you need a bit of support. There are pinned posts on the right of the screen including a special one for newbies. Well done posting and we look forward to hearing about your weight loss goals that you achieve. X

Hi Ickleboo find out your calorie limit and stick to it. This may sound daft but some people don't lose weight because they don't eat enough. Their body goes into starvation mode and turns everything to fat to survive the famine. If you keep note of how many calories you use each day, even when you have a bad day be honest, you will be able to see where you've gone wrong. Seeing it in writing sometimes helps us to admit that the sneaky slice of cake that turned into two.... did make a difference. It will also show how going under your lower limit all the time can stall your progress. You'll be surprised at how much and what you can eat with little tweaks like skimmed milk instead of full fat. Recently converted my Chicken Tikka Masala recipie just to see how bad it would be if I used lighter butter and lighter coconut milk and was gob smacked at how few calories, a couple of little tweaks made a big difference and it was just as lush! Didn't tell my OH and he hadn't a clue I'd altered it or trust me would have said something! Good luck whatever you decide to do :)

Hello I too am fairly new. Had blood tests done recently as I thought something was going on but came back in good working order. I walk 3 miles everyday - tried doing the " couch to 5k" but jogging killed my left hip and knees, maybe when I'm lighter and fitter I will have another go. I'm toning more than weight loss, don't give up. Everyone is different and our bodies work differently. Don't be too harsh on yourself, you know it's not a quick fix. X

Thanks very much for the replies!

It took me 11 years to pile on the fat so its gonna take a while to get it off too.... Grumble. There is the plus side of course that I won't put it back on so quick if I lose it slower!

My problem really is my panic attacks, I'm terrified to exercise because I'm scared of passing out so I have avoided it at all costs, hence my weight, but I got married to my soul mate a year ago and I want to look good and feel amazing for him, also I want to live as long as possible with him 😄.
