Totally agree, if you respond to a catty remark with a smile or a compliment it makes them feel so mean-minded that they might think twice about doing it in the future.

Thank you I've had loads of replies to this post It just shows what a lovely lot of people are on this forum Its really cheered me up and I can think "blow that silly neighbour"
