A different set of goals. A new challenge.

Since I've been dieting for the past 3 months or so with minimal movement on the scales front I've decided to launch the bloody things out of the window and set myself a different set of goals. Achievable goals (perhaps), completely disregarding a set of figures on a weighing scale.

Now don't get me wrong here I still very much will control what I eat and will stick to calorie intake and I will still be exercising! in fact my goals will be based around this. But I think that maybe I will be more relaxed about my body image. with the shift of focus may come a shift of pounds! I may be able to give myself a big pat on the back rather than beating myself up every week ( "if only i hadn't had a lick of my sons ice-cream i may have lost 1/2 a pound") !!

So here it is, I'm giving myself 1 month from today to achieve the following:

1. Obtain my Green belt in Karate

2. to be able to get into and hold a Yoga headstand for at least 3 seconds (ideally 10)

3. Make it all the way through the HIIT cardio work out (25 minutes) without having extra breathers! or passing out!!

4. increase my Kettle bell/ free weight reps to 3x 10 reps.

I think 4 goals are enough for now, and if anyone is interested I'll let you know how I get on.!

I would love to hear some of your alternative goals (if anyone reads this!) because we can all achieve with a bit of encouragement xxx

Way to go, daynac. Sounds like a good plan and exhausting.

Onward and downward on the scales.

I know I'm getting obsessed with calories etc., so I'm going to relax a bit more about it.

Fingers crossed the scales move. 👌

Lol, yeah I was looking back on what we were saying yesterday. Then I realised while I was beating myself up about the scales not going down I haven't congratulated myself on a few things:

1. I haven't had a cig in 10 weeks!

2. I can do the full arms and abs workout on my Yoga video (20 minutes) without giving up or crying anymore.

3. It may only be a little but I'm almost certain i can see a little muscle definition starting to appear.

4. If I breathe in really hard i can see rib!! lol

so come on Teric I'm sure you can think of something you can be proud of yourself for??? x

Well I gave up smoking 4 months ago.

Had an op on my foot in March and couldn't walk for what seemed like forever, (another reason for putting the weight on.....)

And last week I went on a 3 mile walk. So pleased with myself.

Only thing was I couldn't walk the next couple of days due to foot and also my muscles in my thighs.

But I'm going to keep going with the walking.

Also going on exercise bike a few times a week.

Can't do any other exercise due to the foot, which can take up to 12 months to fully repair.

So little steps for me, would love to go out running

😀

Well GO YOU!!!!! see thats pretty impressive. A triumph in the face of adversity!!

Be proud! stand tall! you could have let your foot be an excuse but you haven't and that in my book makes you an achiever!!

Congratulations on quitting cigarettes. I know exactly how hard that is after giving up a 50 year habit ten years ago. After ten weeks I just knew I could succeed as the thought of undoing that ten weeks of life changing effort did not bear thinking of. Alongside your other achievements I think you are truly remarkable!

Hi, I've stopped being obsessive about the scales too, concentrating on being healthier and fitter. Have you taken your measurements? sometimes you lose inches even if the scales aren't obliging! You sound fit with all that excercise!

I have done measurements and there is a little bit of movement. which is good, Im not mega fit but like to keep active and am going to try and get a bit of a " this fat girl can!" attitude lol.

Hi Daynac44, well done that sounds great, my daughter and I signed up for race 4 life 5k run, we set a £150 gaol money wise, and a just completing the 5k goal. We did it in 46 mins and a few seconds - it was also a shared birthday treat! I found having signed up for the race I was motivated to exercise - it was still a struggle but we did it :)

That's fabulous natkat, I am completely in awe of anyone who can run/jog/walk faster than an amble!! and for such a good cause as well. I hope you both are extremely proud of your selves :)

Now you have the momentum going are you thinking of doing any other runs??

Im really rubbish at running, but maybe i will set myself a goal of becoming a slightly better one next month ( if I achieve this months goals that is)

Keep it up xx

You go gal! Throw the bloody diet books away as well. We know what makes us fat, too much of stuffing our faces with the wrong food and quantity. Cut down on portion sizes, eat more protein, eat less cheese, pastry, cakes, biscuits, and chocolate. In fact, just snack on a few nuts or chew a crispbread slowly. But eat your meals and enjoy them. Just don't pile up your plate as you don't need it. I'd love to hear how you get on.
