don't give up!! eat more fruits, for example, grapes are full of sugars.

Hi, I had to wean myself off sugar slowly, as the post from Caz has advised. It took me several goes. Didn't realise how addicted I was!

I didn't want to replace the sugar with artificial sweeteners, as they upset my stomach, but some people find they are useful. I rationed myself and spread my sugar 'hits' out for longer and longer periods (one sultana, eaten very slowly). It took me a few weeks to lose the cravings.

Hang on in there!

Thank you, it's good to know I'm not imagining the craving. Wish I'd listened to 39 year old self saying won't be fat and forty

I find eating carbohydrate earlier in the day helped my mid afternoon sugar cravings 😊 Breakfast like a king and all that . . .

Cracking idea, I hadn't thought of that. I seem to slump around 3pm, thank you

It just seems to suit me, 😊it was suggested to me to help menopausal symptoms, but definitely prefer eating earlier in the day, mostly a light vegetarian evening meal 😊

Hope it helps 😊

Hi Nenagh56. We are all different and what works for one person may not be the best approach for another. I can't have a single chocolate without scoffing the whole box, but now I have been totally without sugar (apart from in complex carbs) for 4 weeks I don't want it any more .. really I have boxes that I am happily giving away so I would recommend cold-turkey. My daughter, however, is unable to do this and is gradually weaning herself off the naughty but nice sweet treats. It is very possible that the diet and headaches are totally unconnected so I hope they are gone by now, but if they persist, maybe getting advice from a real doctor could help you.

Same here. I tried cutting sugar little by little but I am too weak willed to do that. So ended up going cold turkey and my hubby joined me. It was hell for eight days and then I didn't really fancy anything sweet that much! Headaches are real. The first few days I remember saying "I will kill for a chocolate" :)

Just home from work, it's been worst day - colleague brought sweets in - torture but I held out, now just need to get in and out of M&S without chocolate eclairs leaping into the basket... Here goes, wish me luck!
