Lunch on the go

Hello everyone.

As most know by now, I'm a complete nutter considering to trek a 1200 mile trail in the US - so I've started to go on long distance hikes, currently doing 17 miles per hike and a total of around 22 miles a day.

I started out late today so had to pack lunch.

I opted for tsaziki with roasted veg and beef:

200g Greek yoghurt

1/2 cucumber - peeled, grated and water squeezed out

2 garlic cloves

1 large aubergine

2 small courgettes

50g black olives

Salt and pepper to taste

75g beef medallion left over from last night's dinner

448 kcal - plenty of fibre and protein

Really enjoyed my little sit down for lunch ๐Ÿ˜Š

And I'm sure the stink of garlic will ensure I'm left alone for my remaining 10 miles. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Wow, wow wow, 22 miles a day, way to go! You must be really fit and certainly needing that protein! Do you walk solo? and where do you walk. I was out yesterday and took a different route, ended up going on a footpath through quite an overgrown dense area and felt a bit vunerable, probably me just being a wimp!

I try to vary where I go. But as you just learned the "public footpaths" are something to be cautious about during spring - I try to avoid them.

I try to walk on in-busy country lanes, yesterday was a circular walk leading me back home.

I'm walking 17 mile single way today and getting a ride back home from my partner after going to the cinema. Along a fairly busy road today, more scary than an overgrown field!

The long distance ones I do on my own during the week but weekends with my partner. ๐Ÿ˜Š

And I'm not sure I'm that fit - my bum hurts! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Ooh, sandals. I'd definitely avoid the overgrown fields in those! ๐Ÿ˜‰

And if you want to exercise your bum, go downhill - it's why mine hurts I think! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well done foodie ๐Ÿ˜€ 22 miles is a huge amount ... NO wonder your bum hurts. I only manage approximately 7 miles everyday. Your lunch sounds and look scrummy. ๐Ÿ˜†

A word of warning because Caz28 saying she felt vulnerable - a few months ago I was walking with my dopey dog on a lit footpath and was being followed. Slowed right down for him to overtake. He did. Then he went up an alley and waited for me to pass then carried on following me .... at this point I ran and ran and ran home !!!!! Very scary. I now carry a police recommended alarm. Not to scare you but you never now who's about. Be safe. ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks Claire.

I do try to stick to daylight hours anyway. But i carry a mountain whistle - it's attached to my backpack and it's very loud! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Should it come to it, I know where it hurts when I kick them with my boots! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The scariest thing around here is cyclist racing downhill! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

My scary moment was daylight hours on quite a busy road. Some strange people about. Glad you keep safe and have a big boot and a whistle if needed. ๐Ÿ˜‡ watch out for the racing cyclists!!! Take care. Xx

thanks , that's why I tend to stick to road walks when I'm on my own it's a shame cos there are some lovely field walks round here but I do get to do those wth my friend. Can't be too careful really.

Glad your safe. Was a little concerned when you said you felt vulnerable, wasn't sure if you meant people or overgrown brambles ๐Ÿ˜€lol

thanks, I meant people, it was lonely and isolated, felt a bit scared!

Thought so ๐Ÿ˜ฎ be safe and if you don't have one I would recommend a safety alarm. It's only small fits on keys, belt etc and mine also has a bright torch. Peace of mind makes walking alone pleasurable ๐Ÿ˜€
