Hi everyone. I am in the middle of a week's holiday and have only realised in the past couple of days just how much I have let myself go. Just have to do something about it. I always enjoyed lovely walks on holiday, but this year I have found them so difficult and not enjoyable. I get puffed and hot so quickly. My hips hurt and my knees are decidedly sore. A year ago, a 5 mile walk would have been a 'stroll in the park' but having lost the plot and put on 2 stone in 12 months, things are really difficult. The good thing is that I now realise I have to get fit again and start eating more sensibly. I have another holiday booked in September, so that is my goal. Thank goodness I have found this website for support!

Hello mrsowen and welcome to this very friendly forum 😀
I'm sorry you've had difficulties on your holiday but come September it will be 'a stroll in the park again'!!!
Have you looked at the nhs12wk plan as most people here follow it's guidance and are finding success. And so will you 😃
I joined 15 weeks ago and have lost over 1 1/2stone with only 6lb to go to hit my 2stone target. So as you can see it can be done. Buy low fat, low sugar, weigh your portions, drink more fluid and move more.
A lot also us use myfitnesspal to help us calorie count and it's free. To look up your correct bmi put your details into the nhs calorie allowance calculator and this will give you and upper and lower limit or go with the limit myfitnesspal give you. Stay within these amounts and you will lose at least 1 to 2 lbs a week.
Get involved with this forum and join in with the challenges. They are fun and motivating. And ask us any questions. Someone's allways here.
Good luck. Claire x
Thanks so much, Claire. I need to go through my cupboards, I think! If I don't keep things I shouldn't eat, it will be much easier. I must say, I'm feeling really motivated at the moment. X
That's exactly what I did 😀 but I have 2 little boys and a husband who aren't on a 'diet' but I put all the choc, sweets etc in a container and put it underneath all my new healthier options. So it's now such a faff to get to it we very rarely go in it. Obviously willpower is needed but if there is less temptation you won't give in. I also bought healthier yeogurts and the kids love them too. And they now ask for fruit not choc or sweets. Very pleased. Good luck with the clear out. Claire x
Hi, sorry to hear you haven't been able to enjoy your holiday as much this year. I too had noticed a difference in the distance I could comfortably manage, so far I have lost half a stone and am already noticing the improvement. This is a great forum and I am sure you will find all the help and support you need on here. A good place to start would be the Monday weigh in tomorrow, just look out for the post and join in! Good luck!
