"Set point" Be kinder to yourself.

I read an interesting article regarding weight loss ( or rather lack of it). It was talking about everyone has a "set point" regarding their personal weight loss journey. At first you're positive and lose a good amount of weight... then get stuck. Instead of quitting you need to be patient, because apparently the body doesn't like change (losing weight) and you frustratingly plateau. Thinking either the diet (or you) are failing! Your body just takes time to adapt and if you ride the storm you start losing weight again! This sounds logical. I'm already in a positive new mind set after reading this. Lets hope with patience the numbers on the scales begin to drop again. Wish me luck.

Hi Justdoit16,

If you want to put a link to your article that you've read, then please do, it sounds interesting. We discourage links for spamming products and for profit websites, fitness gurus etc etc, but links about educative articles can be really helpful to our forum members, so please do share the link if you think others would benefit from reading that information - and it does sound really interesting.

This article was found in an American website called "Greatist". I haven't a clue how to upload the information...bit of a techie dinosaur I'm afraid!

That was really interesting and definitely motivating. I believe the NHS stuff briefly mentioned this, but this is a much more in-depth explanation. I think I work better when I know what to expect!

Thanks for sharing that. :)

What a fantastic article. It makes so much sense I cried over it!

I love this quote

You can transform your body. Most people just do it the wrong way. Too fast. Too impatient. Too generalized. And too unrealistic.
